OH - Spencer and Monique Tepe found shot to death at home 2 children unharmed, Columbus, 30 December 2025 *ex-husband arrested*

Egress is exiting. He just let himself out but how did he get IN?

We will no doubt find out in time.

He may have been visiting friends or family locally, not necessarily driven over to commit these murders.
I wonder if he contacted Monique and gave some story and they let him in, like an emergency situation, car broke down, etc. OR is there a way to foil those keyless locks? jmo

Hi Attorney, can you answer a question for me? If Monique wanted to file a complaint, maybe related to some concerns she had about MM. Could she do that and it would not show up in a public court record?
With the courts, no, very unlikely. Court records being public is a constitutional right, there is a high bar to keep them private. And then there is going to be the question of why you want them private. She would have no exceptional reason for not wanting the public to know. And while she would have reason to not want the target of the filing to know, that’s not going to be granted. A court can’t take away someone’s rights without giving them an opportunity to defend themselves. TROs may be granted based on one-sided information, but only pending a hearing. One problem with restraining orders is a victim can’t both have a restraining order and hide from their abuser, because legally the person restrained has to know where they’re not allowed to go. And even when case filings are sealed, the existence of a case is not likely to be sealed.

That said, it wasn’t that long ago that curiosity led me to look up a Family Court case involving someone I know, which I had looked up years ago and had been able to find (though the filings were sealed), but when I looked more recently, I couldn’t find it at all. I have no explanation.

Covered many times here. Many YouTubers located records but didn’t compare dates of birth. The guy who remarried and then divorced was in his sixties and married (and divorced) a man.
I wonder if they scoured the court records in IL where ex was living for marriages/divorces. All of it will come out in time.

Based off the arrest warrant and posts from CPD, we know he traveled from Columbus to Rockford, IL after the murders. I will be curious to see where he drove to Columbus from - did he stay in the area leading up to the murders, or did he drive through the night from somewhere?

No source/unverified - I read on multiple other forums that he was adopted but estranged from his adoptive family so that would rule out the holidays with them.

Jmo but, if true, "rejection" from Monique, estrangement from his adoptive family, the known lawsuit mid 2025 in Nevada someone posted links to, holidays, etc could all be triggering factors for his heartless actions.

jmo, moo etc etc

It is going to be revealing who his last interaction was with and at at what time.
He committed this crime in the early morning hours just before 4 in the morning. Since he lived approximately 6 hours and 45 minutes away he could have driven straight from Rockford to Columbus in the early evening of the 29th.

There was no second wife. He didn't remarry as per a lot of other posts (here and on reddit).
I'm seeing that too.

Oh, yeah, I saw posts that his remarriage was to a guy, etc. and there were men with this name who had done that, but they weren't him. Like men named Jonathan Ross, who shot that woman in Minneapolis on camera, I would sure hate to be a man named MIchael McKee right now.

I also could not find any evidence of him being a practicing physician, but perhaps those websites were scrubbed when things came to light. I did look up his Illinois medical license, and he apparently still has one but his location is listed as Las Vegas, NV. So, I did a bit of Googling and found this.

Edit: I’m not linking to this YT channel as a representation of fact except for the parts that present the 55-page divorce docs and some commentary about the mistakes made by other YT presenters. I don’t know if it’s allowed but if not, please report/delete. There were many sensational claims about the other Michael D McKee but all have been debunked.

I disagree about your view of Fugitive tv's content, but that's okay.

Who is Michael David McKee?

Medical licensure databases show McKee went to medical school at Ohio State University. He has active licenses as a vascular surgeon in Illinois and California.

He had a license in Nevada, which lapsed in mid-2025. Clark County (Nevada) court records show McKee is one of several doctors who were named in an ongoing personal injury lawsuit. https://www.dispatch.com/story/news...murders-ex-husband-columbus-ohio/88119793007/

I haven’t seen Fugitive TV’s coverage. My comment definitely wasn’t directed at them! Sorry – I wasn’t clear. I saw others make the same claim.

Just some of my thoughts for now below. I am going to think about it some more, and of course additional facts will start being made public to help piece it together.

Usually there are a number of variables and events which converge to cause such a horrific crime. It is not one thing.

And they won't really know how it all came to this point of course until they get into the deep weeds and talk to the suspect, look at the history, prior arrests, talk to family and friends, look at the crime scene evidence, etc.

Sometimes people think they have ideas about what happened, but then when you talk to the subject, you get some surprises.

Yes I do think this man thought he was smarter than the average bear and could get away with this crime. And yes I do think he is mentally ill and possibly using drugs. And yes he most likely suffered some sort of trigger event which caused him to go back and look at his prior victims and act out his rage and anger to one of them.

Yes any set back could be the trigger. And if there is drug abuse, this can cause serious problems in terms of judgement, and even psychosis.

So we see a man spiraling out of control.

Yes I agree, the one shot to M and two to ST is a surprise perhaps, but maybe not. This man looks like he controls his rage and anger, and stays focused on the task at hand. Puts his emotions aside and does the job. Which of course is what a surgeon is trained to do.

Also he may not have wanted a loud scene which would have perhaps alerted the neighbors or awakened the dog and children.

He is a cool number and may subscribe to the idea that revenge is a dish best served cold.

But we can clearly see he made it a personal crime. Attacking a husband and wife in their bedroom, in their bed, while they slept.
This is very personal and up close. He may have made sure MT saw him and knew who killed her. And he killed her husband too.

So it is a mixture of distance/cool headedness/self discipline, and up close, out of control personal rage.
Makes me think of Betty Broderick.

Here's the entries on their divorce case which were made back in 2025, any lawyers around to give an opinion?
Spousal support? I do not know if this is something enforced in OH but possibly requested to change the amount spousal support paid. Or angry that he had to pay any? It wouldn’t be listed in the filing but included in the decree.

Does Ohio have the death penalty?
Yes, Ohio has the death penalty but executions are currently paused indefinitely by Governor Mike DeWine due to issues obtaining lethal injection drugs, with lawmakers exploring alternatives like nitrogen hypoxia or even abolishing it entirely as legislative debates continue. The state's last execution was in 2018, and the current impasse stems from pharmaceutical companies refusing to supply drugs for capital punishment.

He was doing his residency when they divorced (making $50K a year) and Monique remarried before he started making any good money. Don't think spousal support had anything to do with his motive.

I'm sorry to say this but if he really wanted to hurt Monique he would have killed her children. I'm grateful he didn't. So what's going on here? IMO

You would be surprised. And seeing that there was a recent entry on the divorce it likely had to do with that or division of property. If she wasn’t working, he was likely ordered to pay something if she had no income.

I only say this because I am remarried with a bitter ex. The anger that seethed from him having to pay any type of child support caused him to be very angry and resentful. Not to this level but just fact he had to pay, regardless of the amount hurt his ego badly.

I'm really interested to know how this guy gained access to the home.

Knowing the code to the door is one thing, but one would presumably have to know the alarm code, or know they didn't use it. The Tepe's have a Simplisafe sign in their front yard.

That system could have been how law enforcement knew the exact time this occurred though.

Interesting. I wonder what package they had.

The most basic package

The Starter Equipment

1 Base Station
1 Keypad
3 Entry Sensor
1 Motion Sensor
1 FREE Wireless Indoor Camera

Wasn't Spencer found on the floor by their bed? It's possible he was alerted to something that made him get up out of bed.

Have you ever been through a divorce? It is a life-altering experience, even with no kids involved. Their divorce might have appeared uneventful on paper, but no divorce is uneventful emotionally. I don”t know how their marriage ended, or who left whom, but people can harbor rage and resentment for years. Eight years is a long time to harbor a grudge, I understand that, but we do not have many details. Something recent might have happened to trigger him. M & S’s wedding video being freely available on YT might not have helped either. He was honestly my main suspect from day 1. It just made the most sense since it was called targeted, even 8 years after the divorce. I guess I have watched and read too much true crime. I bet LE looked into him hard right away.
Twice. Unfortunately.

It just feels like he somehow entered, without breaking in (like breaking a window/door). Otherwise I'd think they'd have been found dead on the first floor (entry) where a conversation was happening, or downstairs to keep their voices from waking the kids upstairs, yet they were found in their bedroom upstairs.

But the time (o'dark-thirty) tells me it wasn't an arranged visit and they weren't expecting him. So how did he get in if there were no signs of forced entry?

Authorities have confirmed there were no signs of forced entry

Her address is listed on every public record I've found, so no.
Yeah, she was all over the internet-- not surprised she was easy to find.

Spitballing here, but I heard that he told the kids to go into a room with the dog (it was on a podcast and don't recall which one). Is it possible he tricked them, once in presented the gun, then they obeyed his commands? Have they confirmed where Monique's body was found? How far away from Spencer? I gave my theory of how, but obviously conjecture.
