OH - Spencer and Monique Tepe found shot to death at home 2 children unharmed, Columbus, 30 December 2025 *ex-husband arrested*

Press conference today: "There's a preliminary link between the weapon found at the home of McKee and the murder weapon by National Integrated Ballistic Information Network or NIBIN".
So does that mean they matched the casings to the gun?

I'm not an expert, but I don't think they even would have mentioned the preliminary link and NIBIN, unless it was a connection beyond just the same type of gun and bullet. JMO

Snippets.
''Beneath his placid demeanour, Dr. Michael McKee was allegedly a grey, throbbing muscle of anger and “resentment.”

“They were married for such a brief time,” former FBI agent Jennifer Coffindaffer told NewsNation. “That is strange, but I think it was a deep-seated resentment and hate that just built up and finally came to this conclusion.”

'Coffindaffer added that the suspected killer had been stalking the couple for days and had staked out the home. It’s likely the suspect also obtained a passcode for the door to the posh home.'

“They had staked out the location well. It was also very clear they knew where the camera locations were because they evaded a lot of camera coverage, it would seem,” she said.''

'While friends and colleagues may have had few suspicions about McKee, his former in-laws had no doubt. Monique Tepe’s family “all expected” McKee would be busted.'

“I think what’s going to be critical for the investigators is a lot of the online search capacity, a lot, are there any recent chats? Were there any changes in the suspect’s demeanour in the last few months, last few years that could start delineating some type of frustration, revenge, outrage, jealousy, depression, anything, but usually the long-standing separation from the relationship, something had to trigger,” Halstead said.'
What they find on his electronic devices will be so telling.

Some have suggested the large neck width of McKee indicated steriods, actually his larger jaw is another indicator--you often see those in combat sports before and after pics, huge jaw, it's a red flag. JMO
He doesn't look like he did in the pics with Monique, that's for sure. Kinda reminds me of actor Michael Douglas in the film Falling Down. With a thicker neck.

A detailed look at the filings and actions of the second medical malpractice lawsuit. Quick summary: MM was the only defendant not to have hired a lawyer, all others being represented by the same lawyer; he was the only one not to have responded at all and who hadn’t been served; one defendant asked for a jury trial, which was granted; the anonymity of the defendants was removed in 2025, naming MM; a motion was granted allowing MM to be served by publication (i.e., notice printed in a journal), since he wasn’t reachable and had provided his previous employer with a false address, according to the plaintiff’s lawyer.

I mistakenly took the date of the recent document to be the date of filing but this lawsuit dates from 2024 and a jury trial was originally scheduled for 2026. (Vacated now, obviously.)

So the weapon is a match. I still wonder if he even cared he'd be caught.
I would think he did not care since he drove his own car and had the murder weapon in his home.

I also agree it might have been a "final straw," which doesn't mean it was an insurmountable obstacle for everyone who faces lawsuits, but that it was FOR HIM.

I am wondering if the lawsuit reminded him of something Monique pointed out to him in the past - like perhaps she didn't like he didn't attend to details like he should (just making that up as an example) and then facing a lawsuit about that flaw triggered him to blame her.

I don't know. I've never dealt with an injustice collector in my personal life but I have dealt with people who lash out at others - and it doesn't take much to set them off, and it's almost always irrational.

As a Human Resource Manager/Consultant in High Tech I had to deal with a great number of Employee Relations issues, and subsequent mediations and courtrooms at times .
In my days, there was great trepidation responding to moderate ongoing employee problems and issues. Blatent vagression was actually easier given the very strong policies and procedures we operated under.

In MMs malpractice case, though the 'assistant'was the one who did the medical malpractice action.... he was the lead, and must be part of that lawsuit. He was in the operating room. How stigmatizing this must have been.
A "narciccist personality" (prob LOTS of our surgeons) so sharply looked at as having failed. Gosh, can you imagine???

This is why I hope individuals in Las Vegas speak out.
AND I really want to know just how he got the job in Chicago??

This is not the first time that a Columbus area doctors have been charged with serious crimes and had sensational trials in Franklin County.

A Columbus Dispatch newspaper article from 2021 details Columbus area doctors since the 1970's that went on trial for serious crimes.

Anyone have any thoughts on why he kept the gun? ( at home)

  • #4,476
JMO, but I think it could be. My late husband was on prednisone for years after he was diagnosed with myasthenia gravis and he looked like MM. MOO

If you Google images of "Cushing face", you'll see the skin changes and color. So I doubt these are corticosteroids.

Testosterone? Could be more like it. However, I'd expect some baldness and acne. But more like it, IMHO.

Could be drinking, too.

He likely knew he'd be the prime suspect and wanted to be caught because the world did not operate in accordance with his wishes. I'd be surprised that he didn't follow up the murders by killing himself, except that I think he wants to observe all those who have been hurt or suffered loss as a result of his actions because I think he will gain satisfaction from doing so.

wasn't done with it yet?
Good point. If he felt his life was spiraling out of control, perhaps he was going to settle all grievances real and imaged. He felt he had nothing to lose?

This is one reason letting him out on bail should not be considered.

Records show the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners issued a medical license to McKee on March 6, 2023, and that it expired on June 30, 2025. He practiced at Las Vegas Surgical Associates.

Court records show that McKee is also part of a medical malpractice lawsuit involving that clinic.

1/14/2026

Court records show that attorneys have had difficulty locating McKee to serve him.

  • Sept. 30, 2025 – Process server goes to McKee’s home near Rainbow Boulevard and West Cheyenne Avenue. There was no answer when he knocked on the door; the home was quiet, and all the blinds were closed.
  • Oct. 1, 2025 – Process server heard the television on, but when he knocked on the door, the TV was turned off, and there was no response at the front door.
  • Oct. 9, 2025 – Process server knocked on the door, but there was no answer and no movement, so he left his contact card at the door. The process server then saw McKee’s medical license had expired, so he tried to contact the medical board but was unable to reach anyone. He then spoke with another doctor, who said he had no idea where McKee was and that McKee had just “disappeared.”
After that attempt, the process server searched for any other addresses associated with McKee and found an apartment near Bermuda Road and East Starr Avenue.

  • Oct. 13, 2025 – Process server stops by the Starr Avenue address, and it was all quiet with no movement. “Leasing would not provide [process server] with any information.”
  • Oct. 15, 2025 – Process server stops by the apartment again, but there was no answer; it was quiet, there was no movement, and the blinds were closed.
  • Oct. 18, 2025 – Process server spoke to a neighbor and was told McKee does not live there, and she didn’t know him.
Court records show the judge granted an order to serve McKee by publication. They also state that as of Jan. 5, 2026, it is unknown “on who, if anyone, will represent Dr. McKee.”

The court docket shows that a status check for trial readiness for the medical malpractice lawsuit is set for April 28, 2027.
