Three possibilities:
1. He didn't think he would get caught.
2. He didn't care.
3. He wasn't thinking straight.
imo it's all three you've listed.

Although, I do still wonder if some sort of autogenerated notice about the potentially erroneous court docket entry regarding the he and MT's divorce case might have been the trigger for these murders.
That's what I thought might have happened, and had asked earlier if those involved in the divorce are given notice, even if it was clerical error. Did the system spit out some sort of communication? email, snail mail, etc.

right? Like if he went after someone from a decade into his past who else might he blame for his less than perfect life?

Interesting thought. Yes. It might not take much for an abusive male to go off on a tangent over something minor or nonexistent.

It feels like he didn’t care if he got caught. He’s just happy he got his revenge.
i get this feeling too. i'm still really curious how he got in the house -- is there any trail of evidence for investigators there? i've seen various videos now about how to hack a SimpliSafe system, scary stuff. I know we've talked about having alarm company signs in yards when you don't have a system, but going further, now it seems like if you do have a system, you should have a sign for another company so no one knows which one you have and can learn how to bypass it.

with his past lies to employers about his residence, his previous threats to M, and the recent malpractice lawsuit, seems like he's been unraveling for quite sometime and finally just decided to ruin/effectively end his life.

WOW THAT IS A VERY COMPREHENSIVE LIST,!!! Now I think I understand why his license was suspended from the docs attached
Traffic violations:
Seems like accumulated demerits lead to suspension? traffic device violation , speeding and a failure to appear.
Yes, agreed. That link is a comprehensive guide.

Even if it was a clerical error, if somehow he got wind of that ( like a notice was mailed) while all that other stuff was going on ( malpractice suit, moving, his residence and workplace) and if he is estranged from his family, alone and lonely at Christmas time, it could have all just been too overwhelming, and he couldn’t handle it.
You cant even avoid the Christmas stuff, everywhere you go Christmas tunes blare inside and outside of stores, decorations everywhere. Constant reminders.
It’s not a happy time for everyone.

Thanks for explaining that. Regardless of the reason why a phantom hearing got added to the case, what I'd like to know is does that trigger reaching out the the defendant and plaintiff in any manner (email, snail mail, etc.). I ask because if so, perhaps that triggered old memories of their divorce, which festered in him till he did what he did. Because why so long after the divorce of a very short marriage?

IMO, the internal system error wouldn't trigger any contact to the parties because the docket self- adjusted or was corrected by the court clerk when the action was stricken per the Docket. For example, the mailing address for the parties would be outdated as it's from 2017.

Also, take note the phantom PREV HEARING DATE 6/16/25 that I referenced in my earlier post was most likely a bug in the system that internally generated a phantom hearing exactly 8 years after the Final Decree entered and the Case Terminated per the Docket entries below:

ETA: Appears that the Court has corrected the system error by Fiche Code & Frame Entry dated 1/14/26.

holidays definitely aren't happy for everyone. i always thought that suicides increase around Christmas, but various sources I've seen say that is not true. A NIH study (linked below) did not find that suicides increase on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, or Valentine's Day, but they did find that New Year's Day is a "temporal hotspot for suicide" which is kind of interesting considering he (allegedly) committed the crime 2 days before New Year's Day.

On New Year’s Day …
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and auld lang syne?
Wonder if he played that over and over when he got home.

Anyone have any thoughts on why he kept the gun? ( at home)
it seems like everything he did insured it would be easy to arrest him and have sufficient evidence for a conviction. He just did not really care.

Do we know when was the last day Mckee worked as a surgeon? He was arrested near his workplace. Did he work that day or any days after the murders?

wasn't done with it yet?
According to LE, he had more than one gun, so he could have used a different one for another crime.

Maybe his parents or anyone that helped Monique when she was leaving him? IMO
there was a. good reason when family members got security before he was taken into custody.

Now, family members are breaking their silence, saying Monique’s ex-husband, surgeon Dr. Michael McKee, accused in this double murder, did not simply disappear from Monique’s life after their short marriage ended. They say he terrified her.
SBM, BBM. I watched the Banfield episode in question, but Spencer's BIL only says in an interview that Mckee made death threats to Monique during their marriage. BIL didn't know if the abuse was physical. I have yet to see family members or friends claim that threats continued after divorce or recently.

Press conference today: "There's a preliminary link between the weapon found at the home of McKee and the murder weapon by National Integrated Ballistic Information Network or NIBIN".
What does it mean when they said a preliminary link ?

My guess is they ran some testing but not all of it, but enough to know it's the gun he used. And confident in making that announcement.

if we're correct that he didn't really care if he got caught, he probably didn't want to dispose of it on the off chance he did get away with it. And then if he does get caught oh well just more evidence what does he care. Why bother expending energy trying to hide it.

and/or he had more uses for it
