Police corner gunman in Brisbane mall (The Australian)
Police have cornered a shirtless gunman who's forced the evacuation of Brisbane's Queen Street Mall.

Dozens of heavily-armed police have converged on the mall, after a confrontation between the gunman and plain clothes officers.

News footage shows the man sitting on a chair, under an awning at the casino end of the mall.

Thousands of workers and shoppers have been evacuated, with police telling them to run and take shelter in nearby shops.

Police have declared an emergency situation, and negotiators are at the scene.
---
"People who saw him said he had his shirt off and looked like he was on some sort of drugs," Christie Dykes told AAP.

Liam Smith said he was told the man had tattoos and "looked like some sort of bogan".

A large heavily-armoured police vehicle drove through the crowd.

"This is real life Call of Duty s...," Ms Dykes said, referring to a violent video game.

Bogan

The term bogan is Australian and New Zealand slang, usually pejorative or self-deprecating, for an individual who is recognised to be from an unsophisticated background or someone whose limited education, speech, clothing, attitude and behaviour exemplifies a lack of manners and education.[1] While bogan is widely recognised, localised names exist that describe the same or very similar groups of people.[2]

I didn't know that.
