SF Police, Grieving Mother Renew Efforts To Solve Cold Case Murder Of Teenager Aubrey Abrakasa
''SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) — San Francisco police are joining once again with the mother of Aubrey Abrakasa Jr., a teenager shot dead in 2006, in a public appeal for help in solving the case.

On August 14, 2006, the 17-year-old Abrakasa was shot multiple times and killed at the intersection of Grove and Baker Streets.

His mother, Paulette Brown, has been a tireless advocate for her son and for the families of other murder victims, Brown has regularly attended San Francisco Police Commission meetings to keep attention on her son’s case''

“My son was a good boy. He had two parents at home. He had no problems. He went to school. He worked for Bernal Heights Recreation Center. He was working,” Brown said last year. “All he did was one day was walk out the house and see perpetrators getting ready to shoot someone and — because he opened his mouth and said ‘Run!’ — they shot my son with a semi-automatic gun. 30 rounds of bullets.”

The reward for information in Abrakasa’s case stands at $250,000.''

Anyone with information or questions is urged to contact Sgt Scott Warnke of the SFPD Homicide Detail at (415) 553-1145. Person(s) wishing to remain anonymous may call the SFPD Tip Line at (415) 575-4444.

San Francisco Police Seek Public’s Help to Solve 2006 Cold Case Homicide 20-079 | San Francisco Police Department
Mother Pleads For Witnesses Who Saw Son's Murder To Speak Out After 12 Years
It is so frustrating when you see these cases and you know there are people out there who could solve them but they just won't do the right thing. I can't imagine what the family goes through everyday knowing the person or persons responsible are still walking the streets when they need to be locked away. I pray someone does the right thing soon and points LE in the right direction.

''SAN FRANCISCO (KPIX) -- San Francisco investigators and a grieving mother are asking for leads in a cold case.

My 17-year-old son, he existed. He lived. He was full of life and someone took him from me," said Paulette Brown, mother of Aubrey Abrakasa, told a crowd of supporters Saturday afternoon.

Someone killed Brown's only son on Aug. 14, 2006.

While the killer remains free, Brown feels trapped by the pain and the lack of accountability.

"I feel like I'm in prison sometime and, like I said, this is not easy. I still cry after 16 years. I still cry. I still hurt. My body remembers the pain. The body keeps the score," Brown said .''

''Investigators have identified people of interest in the cold case but San Francisco police chief William Scott, who attended the event, said they lack the evidence to make an arrest.

"That $250,000 hopefully provide incentives but we need somebody to come forward. We know people saw it. We know who some of the people are who saw it and we just need cooperation," Chief Scot t said.

Brown said her high school son was walking near his home when he saw a gunman pulling up to a large group of people. She said when her son alerted people to run, the gunman turned his gun on Abrakasa.''

Aubrey is in my thoughts today. Sixteen years is a very long time for his family to wait for answers.

17-year-old Aubrey Abrakasa Jr. was shot and killed in San Francisco in 2006 when he warned his friends to run from a gang.

Aug 15 2025
''It was August 14, 2006 when 17-year-old Aubrey Abrakasa was gunned down in front of a preschool at the corner of Baker and Grove streets in the NoPa neighborhood. San Francisco police and the victim's mother are marking another anniversary with a plea for the public's help to solve the murder.

Aubrey, who was days or weeks out from starting his senior year in high school, was leaving his mother's house nearby and was headed to his job as a youth counselor in Bernal Heights, when he saw a car coming fast down Baker Street. Witnesses say he shouted "Run!" to warn those around him, and as he ran, he was shot by someone in the car — some 30 rounds were fired, and Aubrey was hit 12 times in the back.''

The motivations in the case remain a mystery to the SFPD — the prevailing theory seems to be that it was a case of mistaken identity, or that someone else on the street nearby was the real target. Aubreay was known to be a good student who stayed out of trouble, and none of this made sense at the time.''
