I agree with those who think the person Karlie was with initially is someone she knew from Alice Springs who had strong connections with Adelaide. From my Facebook scanning of people from Alice Springs, it seems quite common for people to move from Alice Springs to either Darwin or Adelaide when looking for work and therefore to have extended family and friends in those cities. There could be no reason for the travelling backwards and forwards between Alice Springs and Adelaide if there wasn't that kind of connection.

That would also make it more likely that the person she was with would want to conceal the fact that she had died. He (I assume a he) might have wanted to conceal her death from some people in either or both of Alice Springs or Adelaide, who were not involved in what happened but who knew that he had been with her about the time she left Alice Springs.

I have never heard a comment about whether Khandalyce was with Karlie in Canberra in December 2008? If not then is it possible that she was left in the care of a friend or family member of the man she was traveling with? That would make the long driving trip to Canberra and back (as Karlie would have planned) less stressful and she could have been persuaded it was better for Khandalyce too.

I didn't see the news tonight with the woman in the wheelchair but I would be very surprised if it wasn't a reenactment. Centrelink and banks rarely take videos of customers except in the form of security cameras and most security camera footage is wiped or filmed over after a short period, often a month or two at most.

It is possible the woman in the wheelchair for the interview was unable to walk but also possible, as others have said, that this was to make the woman more likely to pass for Karlie. It also occurred to me that this could be a way to disguise height, if there was any indication on Karlie's ID of her height?

I am in the camp of those who don't believe the murderers or their associates had any sentimental attachment to Khandalyce or her clothes. I recall someone, either on this forum or in a Police Update or media report, suggested that Khandalyce's body may have been placed in a shed or similar, on the floor and the clothes placed over her. Certainly the clothes are in a very bad state. It was only a lot later that they were placed in the suitcase with Khandalyce's remains.

I hope Makara is right and the fraudsters start to turn on the murderers. That is clearly what the police are hoping will happen.

Ahhh don't sweat it.....Ive been here for years and still don't know how to multiquote...best advice.....whenever you manage to find you way to a thread your interested in...just make a random comment. Then when you log in..go to your username at the top of the page...hit it...a page will come up...scroll down to where it says latest post (by you)...it will take you to where you were last...

Hope that makes some sense...

Just trying to catch up on the thread now but I'm thinking the use if the rabbit photo shop was possibly to get a new license photo to make themselves or get the false license and take over using Karlies identity . I'm thinking she was probably deceased at this point

The standbag purchase was as others suggested to buy the suitcase case Khandalyces remains were eventually found in

From my knowledge of banks, to change your PIN number if you don't know the number you need to produce photographic ID.

One other point, relating to the possibility that some of the criminals involved were involved in dealing drugs. Someone mentioned growing marijuana being difficult if you were travelling around the country. The current issues with drugs in Australia and particularly regional Australia relate more to drugs like Ice and Ecstasy, which are manufactured from chemicals and medicines. These are "cooked" in normal homes and don't require a lot of space or hydroponics.

I'm with Puggle. I work full time and don't earn nearly that much. Are we sure a single parent gets that much?
Not that it matters as we know there were other amounts going in.

A single mum with one child including family tax could easily get close to $500 a week depending on tax benefit and supplements. No offense to Puggle but the months were wrong too. It is close to 42 months. So $2000 a month would be $84000. But even if it's only $1500 a month with a few top ups. Ie a $5000 credit card and a few thousand from mum and or work.

From that link.... Almost $100,000 was spent or withdrawn from the account since November 2008 until March 2012.

That equates to Mmmm ... I am crap at maths...so anybody please feel free to correct me.

Approx 100,000 divided by 28 months = $3571 a month....... centrelink (whatever they call themselves now) pay fortnightly..
$3571 divided by 2 = $1785 a fortnight.....????...sounds a bit too rich for me???

Never been on a single Mum's Pension.....is this what a single mothers pension would be?? .... Man...I earn less than that and I work??... Again....my maths could be totally off.

They also scammed money from Karlie's family. Mongrels grrrrr

Good thinking.
But I'm still stuck on trying to come up with any reason to keep the case of clothes in the first place.
Yet there must be a reason because we know somebody kept them.
Perhaps someone quite innocently agreed to store a suitcase for someone but accidentally discovered what was inside and wanted to get rid of it.

LOL as I admitted I am crap at maths....but how did you come at 42 Months???... $100,000 from November 2008 to March 2012??

2009 to 2011 = 24 months...add 1 month from Novemeber 2008 and 3 for March 2012...= 28 Months???

Just counted the months using the calendar thing in the corner from Nov 08 to March 12..

Another thought there could possibly be two cards linked to Karlies account. A handycard and a debit Visa card ? Or Karlie could have a credit card with her everyday account linked onto another button .( eg savings)

So Infact she could have up to 3 cards to access that account .

Maybe her mum had one card so she could put money into the account easy if karlie needed it and she could also take the money back out when karlie was able to repay it .

Just my rambling thoughts and probably way off .

NO offence taken at all....I am admittedly dyslexic when it comes to numbers and figures....that's why I asked for help..lol..

I was just trying to figure out if anymore monies were being deposited into that account......but it seems it was probably the right amount over the years...

My saving grace..I'm good at other things...just not maths ...🤬🤬🤬

This happened recently -sounds familiar?
Margaret Archer appeared in Murray Bridge Magistrates Court on Monday charged with one count of theft, over her alleged use of Jody Meyers’ card to withdraw $250 from the Bank SA branch at Mannum on August 27.

The body of Ms Meyers, 20, was found buried under concrete in a back shed in the backyard of a property owned by the parents of her partner, Neil Archer, about a month after her disappearance.

Police said "Examination has revealed decomposition of the remains occurred before they were put in the suitcase."
http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/...457115935?sv=f70da97528875e2cc8a42f0e7185a80e

That means the body was kept for some reason, and the clothes were also kept - but not together.
They were only placed together in the suitcase shortly before being dumped at Wynarka.

And that, to me, is the biggest unanswered question (other than who killed her, of course).
The clothes and the decomposed body were kept for years, somewhere, but not together.
Yet both could so easily have been destroyed beyond any possible chance of recognition.

There must be a reason why they were kept.

This is way out there as far as ideas go, but there's been very little mention of Khandalyces' dad, other than police confirming he's not a suspect. All those trips between Alice & Adelaide make me wonder if this is a group/family who knew Karlie very well though, so maybe this is NOT linked to any other cases? Maybe this was very, very personal.

The fact she & her daughter weren't killed together, & the extreme amount of effort put into making everyone believe Karlie was alive & that Khandalyce was with her, well, it makes me wonder if maybe, someone/some family believed Khandalyce was the child of a relative & all of this was done out of anger with Karlie & a desire to keep Khandalyce with them, unbeknownst to Karlie's family & the courts.

Even the early approach for money would fit - at that point they may have genuinely needed $$ for Khandalyce if they were trying to set up home with her. Maybe they eventually took out their anger/resentment at Karlie on her daughter, maybe they discovered they'd been horribly mistaken about her paternity, but whatever happened, if someone had cared for Khandalyce for a period of time it would explain the vastly different treatment they both received in death & it would also explain Khandalyce's belongings being with her - which is something abusive caregivers frequently seem to do with their child victims.

& of course this could all be 100% WRONG.

yes thats how i read it as well that They said more than $90,000 went through the bank account before it was closed earlier this year. ?

Yeah, $90,000 worth of transactions, passing in and out of the account, including wages, benefits, and probably other things too.

So I hate the way the media is flashing headlines of this (somewhat misleading) total, as if to suggest that Karlie had $90,000 in her account and therefore was up to no good.

I think you may be right, more than one....or a lot of travel...either or.

I'm not up to scratch with how to post messages here.....I thought I was liking posts and they all came up in my last reply and they are still there when I went to reply again.....I will get the hang of it eventually....anyway chose the bent arrow in right hand corner this time see how that goes.
There was a post by From Germany? about Hind, Archer, and Jody Meyers....but it gas disappeared. - the article was interesting to read and i'm wondering if this is coincidence or actually related? Could Jody and Hind have known something? Just wondering....

Jenz I've removed the links FromGermany posted because they are off topic. There is no indication at this stage that the Hind, Archer and Jody Meyer's cases are connected to Karlie and Khandalyce. If that does turn out to be the case then they will be open for discussion. There has to be a continuity to our threads here on Websleuths and that is why we have different threads for different cases. If you're interested in the Jody Meyer's case there is a thread here. http://www.websleuths.com/forums/sh...Mannum-26-August-2015&p=12043480#post12043480

If you happen to find anything that may be of interest please let the police know or contact Crimestoppers. 1800 333 000.

Des Bray said "I can tell you the last payments through centerlink were in 2011"
It is believe Karlie died in mid to late Dec 2008.

2008 - 1 month (Dec)
2009 - 12 months
2010 - 12 months
= 25 months + however many months payments were made in 2011.
If it was the whole of 2011 that would be 37 months.

$90,000 / 37 months $2432 per month and that is if it were paid for the whole of 2011.
More than just parenting and FAS payments ...imo

Please correct me if my math is wrong but my point being centerlink payments ceased sometime in 2011
