Police are seeking urgent public assistance to help locate a 28-year-old woman missing from the Roma and Dalby areas since February 2, 2025.

Tayla Spies (pictured below) was last seen travelling along the Carnarvon Highway, just south of the Condamine turnoff heading towards Roma between the hours of 10am and 1pm, on Sunday afternoon February 2.

The vehicle she was travelling in (pictured below) is a white 2017 dual cab Toyota Hilux with a distinctive black bumper bar and blacked out wheels with Queensland registration 559 GJ7.

Police and family hold serious concerns for her welfare.

Tayla is described as Caucasian, with brown shoulder length hair, blue eyes, slim build and approximately 170cms tall.

She is known to frequently travel between Roma and Dalby.

She was last seen wearing a fluorescent pink long sleeve shirt and light-coloured shorts (pictured below).

Police are appealing to anyone with information about her whereabouts, to immediately come forward.

She was last seen driving along the Carnarvon Highway in Surat about 11:10am, turning onto Cordelia Street from Burrowes Street on Sunday, February 2.

So she was leaving Surat, moving towards Wycombe etc ?

Using the main roads she could have taken to go to Roma via Surat. Only 1 option, and the longest. Why take that journey, when the A2 is 50km and 30min faster?
Is there something worth taking the long road home for? A friend, bakery etc ?
Reports are saying she left around 8am;hotel doesn't seem to offer breakfast

The route from Dalby to Roma via Surat takes you through the corner shown in the footage at ABC news article — but travelling in the opposite direction.

Here is the expected direction of travel

The only other clue is that at 12:13pm that same day, Tayla's mobile phone pinged off a telecommunications tower somewhere in the region of Yuleba South, which is about 90km north-east of Surat.

Police know that earlier that Sunday, at 8am, Tayla left the Windsor Hotel in the town of Dalby and drove the 240km west to Surat.

she was captured on CCTV cameras at the Windsor Hotel car park, lugging a large rectangular red and white spotted bag.

She walks quickly, holding the bag in front of her.
The vision makes it look like the bag is heavy, or at least cumbersome and difficult to carry.

She takes the bag to the driver's side of the vehicle before the vision, released by police, cuts out.

What was she doing staying at the Windsor Hotel? The website for the hotel makes it look quite nice, but the Tripadvisor makes it look very basic and likely a residential hotel. Was she there for the night? Living out of a room? Working?

Police say that Tayla stayed at the Windsor Hotel that weekend and was there on business.

I'm a bit confused.
Do we know for sure what she does for work? I may have missed it, but I only saw a mention of previously being an event planner. Is she still in that business? What did she have on that weekend in Dalby? The info seem very vague.

The timeline fits well with the sightings: from Dalby 8am she drives 2h45min roughly to Surat (she was seen at 11.10am), maybe stops for food/toilet/fuel etc, then 45-50 mins to Yuleba (her phone pinged there at 12.13am).
The question is why was she going towards Yuleba instead of straight to Roma from Surat?

The fact that it was the last ping and went dark after that and the fact that the car has not been found, makes me worry about the usual "person+car in body of water".
From what I can see on Google Maps there's a lot of state forest in the area, and a few bodies of water, one of which (The Maryanne dam) in Yuleba south looks very close to the road. Not sure if the dam is full and how deep it is at this time of the year though.

Hmmm. I wonder what was in the bag. She was struggling with the weight of it a bit. Too heavy for clothes. Unless she planned to be away for a long time......
I didn’t think it was too heavy for clothes — more that the way she carrying it made it heavier, put her at a mechanical disadvantage. My thoughts is that likely it included something like clothes/dress/suit on a hanger that she didn’t want to crush/crumple.

It did kind of look like something that might contain clothes, dresses or suits on hangers.
I was surprised that it wasn't a wheeled suitcase. That could explain it.

Come to think of it, it didn't look that heavy, just a bit awkward.

I'm interested in the Dam part. My friend, Cecilia Devine was found deceased in a dam. Case still open.

I used to do events as a photographer, and event coordinator often have a bag full of bits to bring that bit extra to the party- like candles or vase or centr pieces. Or even audio visual equipment if that was part of her offering.
It doesn't seem like a "go" bag to me, if fleeing DV. And if fleeing, I'd imagine most do it at dead of night/sunrise to avoid being seen by gen pop

Gotcha and thanks for correcting. Interesting that there isn't CCTV from her coming the other way. The timing seems too short for her to have gone the fastest and then turned south towards Surat. although if went that way, then would have gone theoigh Yuralba on way. Rather than later, 12pm etx

I'm so sorry about your friend. *hugs*
Where did that happen?

The Maryanne camp ground has a dam, is directly on the road between Surat and Yuleba and the telephone tower that pinged her phone is nearby.

Admittedly, it's still only one of many possibilities.
It's been a while with no sightings though. I can't think of a likely scenario with a good outcome, but you never know.
