AT LEAST three murder investigations are in line to be reopened after the State Government overhauled its double jeopardy laws.

Police revealed they would examine the cases as Faye Kennedy, whose infant daughter Deidre was abducted and murdered at Ipswich 41 years ago, said she had renewed hope for justice in the unsolved case.

QUEENSLAND will overhaul its double jeopardy laws and allow prosecutors to again go after acquitted defendants.

The Newman Government will today announce the reform at Homicide Awareness Day, almost two years after federal Health Minister Peter Dutton and grieving mother Faye Kennedy lobbied for reform.

Mum still battles for justice after 40 years

AFTER almost 40 years, the tears haven't stopped and the hurt and grief linger. For Faye Kennedy, it feels like it was just yesterday that her baby, Deidre, was snatched from her bedroom.

But now there is a glimmer of hope.

Attorney-General Jarrod Bleijie has announced he is considering changing double-jeopardy laws, which would mean murder acquittals before 2007 could be retried if fresh and compelling new evidence was available.
