TWO children involved in a siege at a house in a Newcomb have been released after 14 hours.

A 28-year-old man was arrested shortly after the two boys, aged one and three, were released before 1.30pm yesterday.

An argument over a dirty house is believed to be behind the siege in Gibbs St.

The street was in lockdown as police and specialised forces negotiated with the man, who was in a front bedroom with the boys.

There's a video at the link here. It really was horrendous, and the suspect was posting on social media during the siege, saying police (not the word he used) wouldn't let him hand over the kids? That's according to the media video, not gossip.

Mom looked so relieved and Dad, the hostager-taker just looked very cold, very angry when he was taken away.
