Police horses and water operations join 'extensive' search for missing 4yo

Police horses and water operations have joined an "extensive" search for a four-year-old boy who has been missing from a family homestead in South Australia's mid-north since Saturday evening.

The boy, Gus, was last seen at his home about 40 kilometres south of Yunta, which is about 200km east of Port Augusta, at around 5pm on Saturday.

SA Police say the boy is Caucasian with long blond curly hair, and he was wearing a grey sun hat, a cobalt blue long-sleeve T-shirt with a yellow Minion picture on the front, light grey pants and boots.

Yorke Mid North Superintendent Mark Syrus said Gus has been playing outside in the sand before he vanished.

"About 5 o’clock on Saturday night Gus was just playing outside in the sand like he normally does, his grandmother went out to find him and couldn’t find him so they looked around the area until they actually called emergency services," he said.

“We anticipate that he’s wandered off, and that’s where we are concentrating our search efforts.

“We understand he’s a pretty quiet sort of lad, but he is a country lad and he’s pretty adventurous as well."

No further news on this lost boy? Was he living with the grandmother? Parents too? Interesting that the family chose not to release an image of him. I wonder if there's a custody battle going on, or something? How big is the homestead, and how far from a road? I hope he's found safe and well soon. I know of a recent similar story, except the missing person was quite elderly, and they were found safe and well after a few days in a very remote area. I hope the same for this little boy.

Maybe a photo of him needs to be looked for and will be forthcoming if he isn't found right away. Praying he'll be found unharmed.

Keeping my thoughts with this little boy and his family.
Hopefully they will find him in time.

Why wouldn’t they want people to see his face? How do people know who to look for? I’m confused
Perhaps the family are in hiding for a variety of reasons, there's a custody battle of sorts, he's in some form of family foster care etc. You'd think they'd want to whole of Australia to know their boys face, but I guess they have their reasons not to. 🤷‍♀️

Do you know the location from where he went missing?

Because he is missing on an expansive quite rural property, so is highly unlikely to be seen by the public.

I'm thinking it's so remote there that any four year old boy found, would be him.

Also they may realise from seeing other cases that once your photo is out there, it's out there for good, for the rest of that child's life.
I notice they also don't give a last name. That could also be for privacy reasons.

In my opinion there is nothing wrong or suspicious about wanting to shield your child and protect their privacy.

To give people an idea of the potential size of the sheep station that Gus is missing from have a look at this sheep station in Yunta, it may even be that station looking at the terrain.. Teetulpa

I may be wrong, and this is purely MOO - but I think I may have narrowed down a possible location.

1000012087.webp

Manunda Station is approximately 40km south of Yunta

1000012086.webp

There's a dam and what looks to be a building 2-3km from Manunda Station.

1000012085.webp

The building is in close proximity to the Old Manunda Dam.

This is the only property I could find 40km south of Yunta, but I may have missed others.

Again, this is just my opinion and my very amateur attempt to map out a potential location where Gus may have gone missing from.

But to me, it fits the information we have - incredibly isolated property in close proximity to a dam (as they've mentioned searching a dam/dams) which is 40km south of Yunta.

MOO.

I understand that. But what if it’s an unlikely event of someone stalking him & an abduction instead of being lost? I know that’s probably not the case but who knows nowadays. I pray he’s found safe very soon. Imo moo

I could be wrong but Teetulpa appears to be north of Yunta.

Check out Manunda Station to the south. It's approximately 40km from Yunta, and there's what appears to be a building/property and the Old Manunda Dam 2-3km to the west of Manunda Station.

I think it he isn't found, the search would be expanded.
I think that any vehicle would have likely been heard by the grandmother and or anyone else there.

It's so quiet on one of those properties that you can hear a vehicle coming for awhile before it arrives.

That would be highly unlikely considering the location and it would be extremely risky since the homestead area wouldn’t be anywhere near a public road, it will be many kilometres within the station. You’re talking a sheep station where the size likely to be around 1500 sq kilometres
