Coral Edmonds, 32, walked out of King Edward Memorial Hospital, in the suburb of Subiaco, with her three-day-old baby girl on Monday, at 11:45am

The baby was born premature, at 36 weeks, and needs to be fed every three hours.

Mum and NEWBORN missing from Perth hospital

Family members of Ms Edmonds have said over social media that she is a “good mother” and is “safe”.

One family member, believed to be Ms Edmonds sister, took to Facebook to say that it was best the mother and child be together.

“Well it’s not fare that my sister doesn’t get a chance with her baby I think thats good she took her baby because honestly I believe baby is best being with her own mother,” she said.

“And yes my sister is safe an well so no need to keep going on about it.”

Another family member who identified herself as Ms Edmonds’ mother said “I hope my daughter is okay. She is a good mother.”

Another sister said Ms Edmonds “was going through a lot” at the moment.

Yeah, hope LE is having serious conversations with those family members!

In the USA, this would not help the Mom have custody of her baby....

Where are you, Tiny Baby?

Does anyone know what extra care a 9 day old, 36 week premature, infant requires?

Article linked above indicates this infant must be fed at least every 3 hours. This means sleep deprivation for a lone caregiver at the very least.

Long ago I earned a degree in Human Development. Not linking for you, but:

Immature lungs/pulmonary system, the baby's lung surface may not be ready to sort oxygen out of the air we breath.

Immature neurology, newborns cannot regulate their body temperature yet. And adult must make sure this infant is warm enough and cool enough -- believe this is summer in Perth?

Immature digestive system/sequence, this baby may not have a strong sucking reflex, may not have learned to nurse/breastfeed in the hospital, caregiver must have formula, clean bottles & nipples, formula at body temperature; the digestive tract may not be mature, and very specific formula needed for the baby to extract & utilize nutrients.

At 36 weeks gestation, Nature intends for Mom's body to provide these for another month.

Diapers, diapers, diapers, and often fresh clothes needed at each diaper change so laundry laundry laundry.

This Mom needs help and quickly!

So glad this baby was found! At 36 weeks, some babies are ready for hospital discharge, but there is a high risk they will lose weight, hence the feeding every 3 hours round the clock.
It is exhausting for any caregivers to feed the baby that often, so I’m glad mom and baby have been located.
