Manhunt for heavily-tattooed man over alleged murder of teacher in Sydney

A police operation is underway in the Blue Mountains after a manhunt was sparked over the alleged murder of Sydney teacher Dannielle Finlay-Jones.

There is a police operation underway in the Blue Mountains, which is believed to be connected to the major manhunt for tattooed man Ashley Gaddie.
Mr Gaddie, 33, is wanted over the alleged murder of beloved Sydney teacher, Danielle Finlay-Jones, 31, who he met on a dating app.

Ms Finlay-Jones, reportedly spent the night introducing her new lover to friends at Marsden Brewhouse in Sydney’s west on Saturday.

The pair returned to her friend’s nearby Cranebrook home in the early hours of Sunday.

Her friends, who thought the couple were enjoying a sleep in, only discovered she had been laying in bed alone with horrific head injuries when they checked in on her at 2.30pm.

Gaddie is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 180cm tall, of muscular build, with blue eyes and a bald head and tattoos covering both of his arms.

He is known to frequent Five Dock, Penrith and Mt Druitt.

Court documents show that Gaddie has a series of AVOs against his name dating back to 2019.

Thank you for starting this thread drsleuth. What a tragic thing to happen to this young woman and her family so close to Christmas.

Given the details police have, hope that this person is found and taken out of the community quickly.

Ashley Gaddie, the man wanted in connection to the killing of Sydney woman Dannielle Finlay-Jones at a home in Sydney’s west on Sunday, was halfway through a two-year community sentence for stalking, choking and assaulting another woman when the 31-year-old teacher was beaten to death.

Wow. And I’m sure she didn’t know and he was charming and affable.
This is terrible.

Police also said they were investigating reports a man was seen running from the home that morning.

It’s been revealed Mr Gaddie had AVOs taken out against him by five separate women from 2016 to 2021.

He has appeared in various courts across Sydney on 14 occassions in the last five years, with the majority in relation to the AVOs taken out against him.

“Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts, or who sights Ashley, is urged not to approach him and to call Triple Zero (000) immediately,” NSW Police said in a statement.

“The man is known to frequent the areas of Five Dock, Penrith and Mt Druitt.”

Police locate Sydney man wanted on arrest warrant

Police have located Sydney man Ashley Gaddie wanted in relation to the death of Dannielle Finlay-Jones.

Located in Wentworth Falls

Can we just get a drone and drop him into the frontline of war torn country and let him fend for himself - I really don't want to subside his meals and lodging for the next 20 years. Escalating repeat offenders - can we tag them - surely after "x" amount of times he needs tracking imbeded. So over this just my very angry opinions.

Police negotiators were called to a Wentworth Falls lookout in the mountains on Tuesday afternoon where they found a man on the wrong side of the safety barrier, NSW Police said in a statement.

After a stand-off lasting almost 12 hours, a 33-year-old man was arrested.

Glad he didn't jump!

How a critical DNA sample is at the centre of the case against tradie, 33, accused of murdering teacher he met on a dating app and then fleeing out the window - as he's refused bail

Gaddie was questioned overnight at Katoomba police station where an interim order was granted to swab him for DNA.

In Penrith Local Court on Wednesday, lawyer Joseph Ormaechea opposed consent for the DNA swab taken at the police station by forensic experts.

The prosecutor warned of the need for the swab to be taken because of the 'transient' nature of the DNA.

Gaddie did not appear in person or by video link and made no application for bail.

He was remanded in custody until March 3 with a decision on the admissibility of the DNA swab adjourned also until that date.

Ah, I didn't see that you'd linked one of the articles I linked, my bad. I could swear I looked at every link in this thread and none were ABC! But maybe I loaded the page just before you posted, and then posted my comment having not seen your comment appear. Wasn't my intention to duplicate your hard work on this thread. <3

I missed this one completely, even though it's very close to where I am. I don't think I checked the news yesterday, so I'm playing catch-up.

NO worries at all, post away, doesn't matter if the same article is linked more than once :)

A teacher who was allegedly murdered by her Bumble date was found dead on the bedroom floor with bruises around her neck as well as facial injuries, police will allege in court.

Daily Mail Australia can reveal detectives are investigating whether Dannielle Finlay-Jones, 31, may have been strangled by tradesman Ashley Gaddie, 33, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

It can also be revealed that a friend who was at the property that night has told detectives she heard a commotion coming from the bedroom that evening, court documents said.
