Occam's Razer : The simplest answer is usually correct.

Wife goes missing, husband is cagey and suspicious, add in money trouble and family dysfunction, and I'm having a very hard time seeing anyone in the picture apart from the husband.

I think the step son is a damaged and vulnerable drug addict who was failed as a child by the adults in his life. I don't think he killed her. I don't think an ice addict is capable of killing a person and successfully hiding the body at the same time as running a cunning SM campaign. If it was him, it would have been sloppy and he would have been caught almost straight away.

A few things to consider though......Was this money trouble real?

The media reported a 16 year old failed business that some members have dissected.

If they were in such dire straights, how have they managed for 16 years? .....that's along time to deal with financial stress.

The Bella Bleu shop in Broadmeadows that the caveat was taken out against the house, was only one business and they had more businesses. Bella Bleu at Watergardens, The Warrant Brand which is a supplier and manufacturer of men's wear and Boys wear. The Warrant Brands supplies to other clothing shops from what I can work out.

Can you define husband is cagey and suspicious (lol....sounds like I'm at a spelling bee).

The dysfunction......totally agree... well from Anthony Rickard point of view at least. We are not privy to other information. Maybe he suffers from a mental Illness? Without a response from other family members ....this is subjective.

If your premise is an ICE addict isn't capable of killing and successfully able to hide a body....what are your thoughts on a theory that he was possibly hanging around the home saw her come out on the trail.....they got into a heated discussion, he bobbed her over the head, stole her purse (ice addicts need money)...and simply pushed her into the river.

In the river she succumbs to the cold temps adding in a condition such as Mmm maybe Asthma...drowns...sinks to the bottom...

Is that a possibility ..... its a thought I've entertained.

I cant see how any physical evidence would be left at any scene along the banks of the river to guide police in that direction.....it doesn't involve blood or anything for a forensics trail to be followed.

The ACA video stated....be it factual or not...I don't always trust media to get everything right.....but it said the house has been checked, cars have been checked...and nothing!!

He got his licence for the first time. I heard it here on this forum.

Actually on a previous AR rambling he spoke about falling out of the car to go to work after beeng smashed. so he must have lost it and resat test.
Do we know if he had a car prior to Karens disappearance?
And This………
“They asked if my dad had been up this way, if he knows anyone up this way, does he have (other) properties,” Mr Rickard said of a subsequent meeting with detectives at his Diggers Rest home
Why did the detectives ask AR this question?
1. Did Karens phone somehow have a ping in the area previous to the day she went missing or phone account revealed calls had been made from the area
2. Did Borces phone have a ping in this area or phone account revealed calls had been made from the area

From what I've seen of BR via MSM I don't think he came across as cagey and suspicious. IMO he looked lost and bewildered. We've only learned about the financial troubles through MSM and the family dysfunction from the ravings of AR. It could all be total crap for all we know. Yes BR would certainly be well and truly on the police radar but I personally am hesitant to point the finger directly at him at this stage. There is just something that doesn't quite ring true there. I could be wrong, it sometimes happens
:shame:

IMO AR is not vulnerable at all. He is in complete control of what he is saying and doing, albeit sometimes under the influence of ice, if that is even to be believed. Why did he have to reveal to MSM that he is an ice addict? That really has nothing to do with Karen's disappearance. He made his interviews all about him. There was no concern about Karen's welfare at all. Is it simply an excuse to explain away his crap behaviour on all levels? IMO AR is either the consummate drama queen or he is trying to play everyone for a fool. Time will tell.

Missing Karen Bombshell

A Current Affair
Channel 9
Air date: Thursday August 11, 2016

Video footage @ 00:39s:

'Martin King: "Are you making headway?"
Detective: "We certainly are."'

Interesting, and other police face a brick wall.

I believe the 'brick wall' comment was Charlie Bezzina saying words to the effect of when you have checked the friends, family, house, cars, surrounding areas, sooner or later you run into a brick wall and you just have to wait ... wait for something new to show up.

Very happy to hear an investigating officer say that they certainly are making headway. :)

BBM

He may have been inclined to say he was an ice addict if his criminal record reveals it somehow, perhaps in court proceedings or if he was ever ordered into rehab as a result of criminal actions. Something MSM could have discovered by themselves if he did not reveal it first.
His complexion is pretty bad for a guy in his 30s. Looks, to me, like it could be ice sores starting up.

Any other locals ?..... My link is a map of places I could think of that I think searches for Karen should take place...

Based solely with the thinking cap.....If I murdered someone.....where would I go to hide that fact.

Thanks SA. Charlie Bezzina has been interviewed by MSM and offered his opinion, not as part of the current investigation team but as a former member of the Victorian homicide squad.

I'm currently reading Charlie's book The Job: Fighting Crime From the Frontline. It's not a bad read. Charlie is a wealth of information on how any missing person investigation works and if and when it turns into a homicide investigation.

What I find intriguing is that investigators are saying they are still treating Karen's disappearance as a missing person's case and not a homicide. IMO there is a game of cat and mouse going on here.

Good point SA and if this is the case it would show AR to be more cunning that we've given him credit for.

Theory, BR & KR got into a fight on the night of the 28th (maybe about money or AR), SR was present but had seen loads of fights like this before so wasn't worried at the time.

BR becomes upset and aggressive and accidentally pushes KR down the stairs (or something), killing her. SR and BR freak out, don't know what to do. KR is taken somewhere in the night. In the morning BR reports her missing.

VR has not been named or implicated at all in this case so it may be prudent to leave him out of the equation for now. WS rules etc.

Sorry, quoting my own post. I meant to say VR and SR have not been named or implicated in this case.

Nothing new in that ACA story but an ambush on the detective leaving Borces home. No new interviews with the meth head step son. Just a cheaply produced hyped up story for ratings. ACA is just gutter journalism, does more hurt than good

Are any of you thinking that Karen is still alive and has gone somewhere for a break from all this crap?????.....Interested in your thoughts?????

Heres my theory.

Karen and Borce knew what AR was going to bring up re the past etc etc. Both Karen and Borce think its a good idea if Karen goes missing for a while until it all blows over. All gets a bit out of control with the media. I think Karens in hiding, Borce knows where she is and is covering it up to protect their plan, now Borce doesnt know what to do. She's alive and it'll all un fold in the near future.

Yes, I totally agree with this, I think AR is only a distraction.
