Australia - NSW - Worst bushfire days in years.

  • #141
Still no rain (there was a downpour about 3 nights ago) but nothing since.
I miss those chemtrails of rainy days past ;)

I went out yesterday to Mount Victoria and Lithgow to take some photos - I was amazed at how close the fires came to houses and to the State Mine Railway yard. I was looking over towards one of the old heritage structures and saw something move - 5 little goats trying to find grass (I think they belonged to the property next door).

I know this area very well, but now the ground is actually exposed it looks so sparse. And glass bottles everywhere! What was also amazing is the one tree surrounded by blackened and charred trees without a leaf on them.
Will post some pics later.

I have a feeling it is going to be a rough summer. In the past ten days we have started experiencing early bushfires too ... so much dry, long grass around after our very wet winter.

"The blaze went within 300 metres of Arbury Park outdoor school and started when a private burn-off got out of control.
Incident controller Jim Keatch said it burnt close to 20 hectares (49.5 acres)."

"The outbreak burnt about 15 hectares (37 acres) and was blamed on sparks from a lawn mower.
The CFS said the fire went within 100 metres of a horse stud and other properties."

I had our lawns mowed recently. 2 days later, the grass was past ankle height.. A week later, and we can't see the puppy for the grass-heads. Just incredible growth, thanks to that wet winter. I'm expecting we'll have a lot of grass fires down here, pretty early on.
