I just caught up on this thread - This is just an awful case - my heart breaks for the children

I hope the children can go stay with other family members when they leave hospital - I feel they’ll never be safe living with the father.

:(

"Kidnappers who abducted a mother and shot her dead before leaving her in a burnt-out car
had sent her husband countdown messages leading up to her execution.

'There are conflicting reports
as to how much was owed,
anywhere between seven kilograms (worth roughly $1.2million)
and 70 kilograms
(worth as much as $8million)'
police source said.

Investigators are working to find whether Ms Tran was shot in the head before the car was set on fire.

A bullet casing was discovered on the floor of the burnt-out vehicle,
but forensic pathologists have been unable to confirm if there were bullet wounds on Ms Tran's charred remains.

NSW Police Homicide Squad commander Detective Superintendent Joe Doueihi said
officers believed there was a 'conflict'
between Mr Nguyen
and 'upper echelons' of the organised crime network."

Sounds like an honor killing to me. I hope the son recovers well, and that the perps are identified and arrested asap. What a horrific crime.

Man charged with murder after woman allegedly kidnapped and killed in Sydney

“NSW police charged a man on Thursday over the alleged kidnapping and murder of a Sydney woman in April.

Police said they responded to a home in the suburb of Bankstown in western Sydney on 17 April, where they were told a group of people had forced their way into a home before allegedly kidnapping the woman, 45, and assaulting an eight-year-old boy with a baseball bat.

A man, 29, was arrested yesterday and charged with murder and wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. He was refused bail and will appear before court later today.

Police will alleged the 29-year-old facilitated the alleged kidnapping and murder of the woman.”

Police charge man over kidnapping and murder of Sydney woman Thi Kim Tran

Police allege the man they charged with Ms Tran's death — 29-year-old The Anh Nguyen — was tasked with solving a dispute over stolen drugs.

Speaking to reporters on Friday morning, Homicide Squad Commander Joe Doueihi said the 29-year-old did not pull the trigger to kill Ms Tran, but allegedly facilitated her violent demise.

"He [allegedly] did this by meeting the offenders beforehand, travelling in convoy with the offenders to the victim's residence," he said.

"Parking his car in the driveway and knocking on the front door with the three offenders standing behind him armed with a firearm, a baseball bat and with their faces covered.

Facing Bankstown Local Court on Friday, Mr Nguyen did not apply for his release on bail.

He will face court again in November
.

Outside court his lawyer, Julie Nguyen, told reporters while it was very early in the legal proceedings her client intends to plead not guilty to the charges.”

This guy was hiding in plain sight - he was arrested in Bankstown, the same suburb where the victim lived.
