During an interview with detectives, the suspect reportedly said that he lived with his father and sister in Nevada and that they were in Glendale for the summer visiting his grandfather. He said his father had been missing for at least a day when he showed up at the house Tuesday afternoon and was “visibly intoxicated.”
Per documents, he said his father began yelling at his sister, demanded she give him her phone and started hitting her. He told investigators that he yelled at him to stop and that Goldman came out of her bedroom and began walking toward him while reaching for the gun on his waist.
The teen reportedly said he pulled his own gun and shot him, adding he was just trying to get him to stop.
While Goldman’s daughter said they did argue about her phone, she said he never hit her. However, she did believe her father was under the influence of drugs when he arrived at the home on Tuesday afternoon.
She said Goldman and her brother were typically armed and that it wasn’t unusual for her father to be wearing a holster on his belt.
