AZ - Emily Pike, 14, found dismembered in rural Gila County, last seen in Mesa, 27 Feb 2025

For her safety, social workers removed Emily from her mother’s custody. At a group home, she reportedly attempted suicide by tying a shoelace to a doorknob and cutting her wrists.

Emily frequently ran away. In one encounter, she reached for an officer’s gun during a stop and told police she no longer wanted to live, saying, “I am going to go to hell and you guys are all going to be there.”

Court documents obtained by FOX 10 indicated that Emily ran away three times in 2023. She told police about her dissatisfaction with life at the group home and pleaded to not return.

“Everyone let that girl down,” Emily’s uncle, Allred Pike Jr., said. “The system failed her in all aspects, not one, not two, all of it. … She’s just a 14-year-old that maybe wanted to see some friends, wanted to come home.”

omg.

azcentral has an article that may paywalledfor some , hoping other news picks it up soon.
Verdugo said he spoke with the U.S. Attorney's Office "regarding the information and concluded the case would not be suitable for federal prosecution."

But federal prosecutors maintain no federal or tribal law enforcement agency submitted a case for a review of charges, a required step before a prosecution is declined.

The community arrives during a memorial for Emily Pike at San Carlos High School on March. 29, 2025, in San Carlos, Arizona.

The Arizona U.S. Attorney's Office told The Republic it has no record of receiving paperwork or phone calls suggesting any agency tried to make a case in Emily's sexual assault, even after tribal authorities briefly arrested a suspect in 2023.

"We never received a submission," U.S. Attorney's Office spokesperson Esther Winne said. "There was no written declaration."

i really hope they're looking into the relative that assaulted her.
I have seen some articles stating it was a relative but have not been able to confirm, I am still thinking it could be a trusted friend (aunt or uncle used often for other tribal members) or a more distant relative.

PHOENIX – The FBI is offering up to $75,000 for information leading to the identification of those responsible for murdering Mesa teen Emily Pike.

The FBI’s reward is in addition to the $75,000 reward already being offered by the San Carlos Apache Tribe.

somebody knows something!

Police didn’t call Stephanie Dosela; she called them after viewing the photos that had been leaked from the Gila County Sheriff’s Department.

“A mother should not find out on social media about her daughter’s dismembered body,” Dosela said in a written statement to Arizona state legislators on May 14

Alfred Pike, Jr., wore a red shirt with the image of Emily Pike emblazoned on its front. He spoke about his 14-year-old niece and how her brutal murder shook Indian Country and the state.

He had come to the Arizona Capitol May 21 to watch Gov. Katie Hobbs sign a measure that will establish "Turquoise Alerts" for missing Indigenous people. It's known as "Emily's Law," named in honor of slain San Carlos Apache teen Emily Pike.

"I'm conflicted," Pike said. "This bill is named after my niece, my niece who's not here no more." He said the event and the name of the law reminded all that Emily is gone

Over the past few weeks, with the assistance of the FBI, there have been search warrants served on a residential structure, a vehicle, and a storage trailer," said Lt. James Lahti with GCSO. "Items seized from those locations have been sent to the laboratory for analysis to determine if there may be links to Emily Pike’s Investigation. A person of interest was contacted and interviewed, but nothing that leads us to believe he is our suspect.

Right on…I hope they do something similar in Canada.

The real problem here was the group home and staff. 14 year old girls shouldn't just "disappear". And no one says anything. I would carefully check all of the staff at that group home.

Yes, again I agree, staffing should be checked as something doesn’t sound right there.
