Family losing hope

MESA, Ariz. - Mesa police are still searching for a missing elderly man who has not been seen since Christmas Eve day. His family is on a frantic hunt to try to find him.

Oh, I hope that he is soon found safe. He looks like a sweet and friendly guy, and even wears a cool, scrunched-up cowboy hat.

It's doubly sad that he went missing on Christmas Eve.

Turner vanished Christmas Eve around 11:00 a.m. near Redmont and Sugarloaf Street. His family says a woman reported seeing him later that day at a nearby golf course, so canine crews and search teams focused their efforts on that area.

“It’s been a nightmare. We’ve been married 60 years. I just can’t believe this has happened to us,” said Joyce Turner, Hugh’s wife.

MESA, Ariz. - Search and rescue crews are still looking for an elderly Mesa man who went missing on Christmas Eve. On New Year’s Day, crews combed the neighborhood near the Red Mountain Ranch Country Club golf course looking for 85-year-old Hugh Turner.

No solid leads in search for Mesa man last seen Christmas Eve

Once again, Arizona Search, Track and Rescue teams with the help of search dogs went looking Friday for 85-year-old Hugh Turner.

Mesa police closed several intersections overnight in the Las Sendas neighborhood.

Crews had dogs pick up Turner’s scent and then followed several leads with the hopes of tracking down credible ones.

The results from the searches conducted Thursday night will determine what areas will be searched by the Civil Air Patrol on Saturday.

The mysterious disappearance of a former Saanich resident has baffled his family and those in the Arizona community where he had been living.

It’s been more than five weeks since 85-year-old Hugh Turner went missing from his East Mesa neighbourhood on Christmas Eve. Turner headed out that morning for a 20 minute walk, something he does three times a week.
