Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office Seeks Public's Help in Locating Missing Man Last Seen in Jerseydale Area

John Van Dinther is 74 years old, six foot one in height and 160 pounds.

He was last seen on foot near Bear Clover Road in the Jerseydale area of Mariposa County on Wednesday, January 22, 2020.

John was wearing the jacket shown in this recent photo, as well as blue jeans and grey tennis shoes.

We are still searching for John. We have received additional assistance from Tuolumne Sheriff's Office, Tulare Sheriff's Office , Fresno Sheriff's Office, Contra Costa Sheriff's Office and San Mateo Sheriff's Office. As well as CHP Helicopters. Crews are searching by ground grids and air operations are using their speakers to yell for John.

John has been found safe by search teams!!!

John was found approximately 2 miles as the crow flies from his residence In the Clarks Valley area of Jerseydale. We don’t know what path he took so it’s hard to estimate how many actual miles he walked.

Search teams in the area calling out John‘s name heard John making noises. Searchers continued walking and calling out for John until they ultimately located him.
