Pitts was 19 when she was found dead at Gordo's Pit, now called Alto Pit, in September 1988. She is presumed to have been at a party on Sept. 16 at the pit, a popular spot for underage drinking. Her burned remains were found there two weeks after her death...

The law enforcement task force that investigated the crime found that "several people were present at the time of death and at the time the body was burned," a Yavapai County sheriff's lieutenant said in October 1988...

One woman who was briefly considered a suspect at the time of Pitts' death, Shelly M. Norgard, was later put under scrutiny again after she was arrested a couple of years later for the murder of her boyfriend. Norgard, who was 22, was one of Pitts' two roommates in 1988...

Police also investigated Melinda L. Perry, 19 at the time, who they said was in a violent physical fight with Pitts the night before she died, a fight in which witnesses said Pitts was beaten unconscious.

Yavapai County Sheriff's officials say 46-year-old Shelly Norgard was arrested in Nevada last month and booked into an Arizona detention center on one count of premeditated murder for the death of 19-year-old Pamela Pitts of Prescott.

So was she convicted??? I can’t even find if they brought this to trial.

I’m trying to access court records but she was scheduled to go to trial this year in 2020.

Using her legal name Shelly Marie Harmon results in more information. Not sure exactly how the Norgard last name plays in yet.

Cant believe I found this case here!!
This case left me angry with law enforcement and the prosecutors in this case
This evil murderer killed two people and got barely any real punishment
They let her plea to 2nd degree for killing her boyfriend and throwing him down a mineshaft
She got a puny 20 years for that--- then she pleas guilty for the murder of Pamela Pitts
And gets no time--our legal system sucks
