Not sure when this was updated but the clothing now mentions this:

White long sleeve knit sweater
Green short sleeve t-shirt with white lettering on the left chest
White underwear

I also found a better quality version of the older reconstruction:

"Woman found dead by road," Arizona Daily Star, November 2, 1979, pg 13.

"Woman's body found near I-10," Tucson Citizen, November 2, 1979, pg 47.

"Woman found dead near highway was shooting victim, officers say," Arizona Daily Star, November 3, 1979, pg 30.

"Woman was shot, deputies discover," Tucson Citizen, November 3, 1979, pg 3.

Long, John S. "Secrets of the desert hold key to unsolved murders," Arizona Daily Star, December 7, 1980, pg 14.
  • This doe was found with cuts and bruises on her head and face
  • She had been dead less then 24 hours
  • She was found in desert grass 500 ft from Interstate 10 at about 11:30 a.m. by a man looking for cans.
  • She had been beaten and shot to death
  • She was Hispanic or Indian and may have come from the San Xavier Reservation or Sonora, Mexico.

Today I submitted Tucson Jane Doe 1979 and Angela Mae Jeff as a potential match directly to the Pima County ME. They replied rather quickly. Here is what was sent to me:

"Thanks so much for your interest in our unidentified decedent. Unfortunately, this case does not match the missing young lady from California. There were a few discrepancies that you might have been able to see with the tattoo descriptions, but other more scientific discrepancies between the fingerprints and the DNA that you likely can't see as a public user."

(I submitted regardless of the tattoos because the ones Angela has are tiny stick-n'-pokes that may not be noticed easily: one of them is on her hand between fingers, and therefore would wear down very easily/quickly. the other tattoo was below the corner of one of her eyes, but Jane Doe's face was beaten and cut up, so there's always a chance it could've been missed.)

so:
a) Jane Doe has both DNA and fingerprints on file (this may have already been known, I haven't gotten to go through the entire thread).

b) Angela Jeff's fingerprints and DNA are also on file.

c) Angela Jeff is not Tucson Jane Doe 1979.

This may not end up being shown on NamUs's exclusion lists, LE is generally pretty bad with updating those.

O'Dina Jeannette Lucero, 18yo, looks very similar to this Doe in certain images jmo, she went missing from Roswell NM at beginning of August 1979. The Doe dyed her hair lighter/auburn 10-12 weeks before November 1979, so that's imo a significant factor because it aligns pretty much perfectly with when O'Dina would have disappeared. Looking at the new likeness for the Doe, she looks Hispanic to me.

Images of O'Dina:

But unless the reporting of O'Dina's height is off by a couple of inches, it can't be her.The Doe's measured at 5'6", and O'Dina's reported at 5'4". So unless there's a height discrepancy at reporting (which I'm sure can happen since O'Dina spent a lot of time with various relatives at various locations over what seems like perhaps significantly hefty chunks of time), it can't be her.

Resemblance is there, and the timing on the hair dying is interesting. But the height is an issue. Personally, under the circumstances I can see a height discrepancy happening if she had a license or ID that listed her height at 5'4" and she'd grown in the interim, or/and if relatives had to speculate in any way as to height. Can keloid scars appear in three months? Yes.
