AZ AZ - Randy Parscale, 10, Oracle, 7 April 1979

I was going through some older threads thinking I’d refresh some of them, but I didn’t make it through a handful before I found little Randy here. (Very ironically, several weeks ago I put a PDF of Randy’s Charley’s Project page in my “to look into later” folder on my Google Drive and had just finished labeling and sorting his and few others so I could find “later”.) Well, “later” came sooner than later! Anywho - getting to my point...

Initially I thought this was a bit of a reach but the more I read about Randy and the longer I looked at all the photos, the shorter the reach got.

Could Randy possibly be the unidentified hiker, “Denim”/“Mostly Harmless”/“Ben Bilemy”, round July 23, 2018 in Florida???

FL - Big Cypress National Preserve, Male hiker, "Denim" and "Mostly Harmless", 23 July 2018

I imagine the vast majority of Websleuthers have at least heard of “Denim” but here’s a rundown. Keeping in mind the change in demographics over time...

Unidentified, White, Male
Date Found: July 23, 2018
Location Found:
Big Cypress National Preserve, Collier County, Florida
Estimated Time of Death:
2 days prior
Estimated Age: 35-50 years old (49 years old)
Height: 5’8”-5’10”
Weight: 83 lbs
Hair Color: Brown
with gray; full beard & mustache (Brown)
Eye Color: Blue/Gray (Blue)
Distinguishing Features: Small, faint linear scar to abdomen, teeth in excellent condition

The height, weight, and distinguishing characteristics are obviously going to be different. Eye color matches, hair color matches. Nose is very similar. Circumstances seem to match up...the more I read about Randy the more I thought there was a chance he had somehow made it out of those woods and possibly even Arizona that day. JMO. It’s possible.

There is something very kind about Randy’s eyes. Much like Denim’s. I don’t know...almost-40-years is a long time to account for but maybe that explains why no one has come forward recognizing “Denim”. (JMOs)

Missing child Randy Doyle Parscale

*On April 7, 1979, 10-year-old Randy Parscale disappeared while hiking with his grandfather and other relatives at Peppersauce Canyon in Oracle, Arizona, nearly 50 miles north of Tucson, according to ABC affiliate KGUN-TV. The group planned on celebrating the boy’s good grades, but when it was time to leave, Randy was nowhere to be found.

Scent dogs led to a dirt road where tire marks were discovered, leading authorities to believe Randy was abducted.

Despite massive efforts, including NCMEC creating an age-progressed photo of the missing boy, Randy has never been found

Parscale ran ahead at one point, up a hill and around a bend - and vanished. For almost a week hundreds of searchers - on foot, on horseback, via helicopter and using search dogs - scoured the rough terrain on the north side of the Catalina Mountains. A tracker who worked on the search followed Randy's footprints to a dirt road where it appeared he got into a vehicle.

I'm not saying he wasn't abducted (he could've been), but what would've enticed him to get into a vehicle so spontaneously and willingly? He was on a celebratory outing with family and there was apparently no sign of struggle, and no indication someone exited a vehicle to entice or grab him. Could it have been someone he knew or trusted, like a park ranger (or someone posing as one)? jmo
