Nikki brand puffer jackets are not cheap from what I see online. I didn’t find the exact match but similar ones with little fur. This lady either could afford one, or someone donated it, and it was purchased by someone of lesser means.

Right near the border, she was probably trying to immigrate to the US.

Just listened to an NPR show about the thousands of people who die trying to cross the border in remote inhospitable areas. Most are never found because the vultures distribute the bones very quickly. The “official” count of these deaths is in the hundreds, but in actuality it’s more like 10,000 people each year. So very sad.

Yes, I noticed that too. The volume of shirts and jackets was high as if she was wearing everything she owned. Everything was dark in color and homemade carpet boot covers probably to blend in under the cover of darkness. I think this will be a tough one to solve without DNA.

"Kanguro" brand boots from an online search. Hers were brown but essentially a lace up ankle boot and I'm betting they were mens boots.
