I’m new to this forum so please direct me if my posting doesn’t follow the norm for these threads.

I am following a missing person thread that brought me here.

I am, of course, wondering what a feral pig pen is. I haven’t found where pens are used for culling operations yet, but am still looking.

This link shows (page 28) that there is someone stationed at Havasu. From the link:

Hired a Feral Swine Specialist that will be stationed at Havasu NWR year-round to
eliminate the population.

https://www.aphis.usda.gov/wildlife_damage/feral_swine/pdfs/nfsp-five-year-report.pdf

Plan to remove feral swine from Havasu Wildlife Refuge unveiled

From this plan to cull the pigs, one of the methods is described here on page 9: https://www.fws.gov/uploadedFiles/Plan_FeralSwineEradicationDRAFT_9-19-2016.pdf

Box and/or corral traps and snares

So, if I was trying to research this case I would want to know how long they leave these pigs in the traps at a time. And how long that particular trap/corral would have been there. Is it visible from the river or road? Seems as if someone had to have been drug there by a pig or placed there intentionally or we’d have a missing persons report of someone who had this for a job.

Deputies had previously responded to a call regarding an abandoned vehicle off the roadway near milepost 3 on County Route 1, but due to recent storms, no footprints or tire tracks were located near the vehicle. However, sandal-type shoes were located and appeared to have animal bite marks on them.

Possible human remains found in desert north of Topock

On January 9, detectives say they responded to the area and located animal tracks near where the truck had been located. Detectives followed the tracks into the thick brush and located several bones that appeared to be human remains, officials say.

Thanks for sharing. I wonder where the “pig pen” came from? Also sounds like a vehicle could give tips as to who this is. Is anyone missing who was in a vehicle?

I am also curious if the abandoned vehicle is linked to a missing person. I hope there will be updates given during the course of the investigation.

Human remains: Animal tracks led deputies to grisly scene

I didn't find any update about identification, but I don't think this article had been posted.

It's not uncommon for a page to be removed from public view while it's being updated with DNA results, autopsy results, and so forth. That can take weeks.
