TUSAYAN, Ariz. — Coconino County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating 37-year-old Travis Butler, who failed to check out of a Tusayan hotel Aug. 1.

Butler is described as being white with brown hair and green eyes. He is around five-foot-eight and weighs about 145 pounds. Authorities said his vehicle is a blue 2017 Nissan Maxima with Ohio license plate FUM5324.

A spokesperson for Grand Canyon National Park said the sheriff’s office is in charge of the investigation and may request help with searches from the National Park Service. The spokesperson said at this time, the vehicle has not been identified within the park.

Authorities advise anyone with information about Butler or his vehicle to contact the Coconino County Sheriff's Department at (800) 338-7888 or Silent Witness (928) 774-6111.

Officials noted the photo provided of Butler is several years old.

Namus has been taken down, presume resolved
I know this is fairly old but his NaMus actually hasn't been taken down. They have his last name misspelled as "Bulter". So if you just basic search for his name you cant find it. However if you search his NaMus number 40130 he is infact still listed as missing. I cant find anything that says he has been located.

Welcome to Websleuths Aftonmegan. You are right, here is the link: The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)

Too bad they misspelled his name. He looks fairly young in the only photo of him there:
Original

I wonder how recently it was taken?

I did bit of sleuthing on familysearch.org and found a Travis Butler from Ohio who got married in 2005. I can't be completely sure it's the same Travis Butler as the missing person so I won't link the record, but if that is him I'm guessing the above photo is from his wedding. He would have been about 25 in 2005. And I think he looks about 25, not 37 in the photo. I wish we could find a more recent picture. MOO.

Different area.

How can I find more info on searches that have been done and obtain more info in general? For example where EXACTLY was his car parked? Where was the last place he was seen? What time was he last seen? What was he doing? Was he moving in any direction? Is there any info on areas he already visited. Etc., etc., etc. I used to be an avid hiker and would like to get back into it... with a new purpose. But if I'm going to do some searching, I'd like to ensure (as much as possible) that I'm not repeating efforts and am actually taking a methodical approach, rather than just going up there and searching blindly.

I live in Flagstaff, AZ, which is only about an hour and a half from there. I guess I'll start by calling the Coconino County Sheriff's Office to see if they have any info they can share.
