GUILTY AZ - Virgil, 65, Louisa, 51, & Valentine Togstad, 19, murdered, 23 June 2008

Maricopa County sheriff's deputies found three people dead Monday night at a home in the 21000 block of West Hovey Avenue in Wittmann, between Sun City and Wickenburg.
Calls came in about 7 p.m. that a man was killing his family, Sheriff's spokeswoman Lindsey Smith said. When deputies arrived, the man was walking outside with a gun but surrendered without struggle.
Police found one body inside the home, one near the doorway and one on the lawn. They are believed to be the mother, father and brother of the man in custody.

During the investigation, detectives interviewed the girlfriend of his brother, Valentine Togstad, who... stated that the family was shooting a BB gun and Togstad's father, Virgil Togstad Jr., asked his son if he wanted to shoot it, according to court documents. Instead, Togstad III pulled a handgun from his waistband and fired five rounds at his father, a Vietnam veteran and retired postal worker, the witness said.
