We just had a big quake here. I'd say it's at least a 6 on the scale. It was big!

We were rocking and rolling for about 10 seconds

scared the hell out of my cats.

Modesto checking in.... we just felt it big time. Less than 5 mins ago.

Glad you are okay! Scary stuff. I never feel them but they make me feel nasueated!

I am so glad someone else from Modesto felt it...everyone thought I was crazy when I said there was an earthquake.

They are saying 5.6, 7 miles east of Milpitas.

We felt it here in Brentwood, but very lightly!!! When we lived in Pleasanton we would have felt it 10x's more!!!!!

I've been saying it has been a long time since we have had an earthquake, and that we were due.

Now, I can only hope it is that many years again before the next one.

this looks terrible. please go to the site for a clearer picture. There's a ? by the magnitude of this latest. I assume it is based on another time, GMT?

Loma Prieda in 1989 was (I think) a 7.2. A 5.6 you can definitely feel too.

Buzz, did your cats act up prior to the earthquake? I've heard animals can foretell these events and wondered what they did differently.

from the given location, it was less than 20 miles from my location.

nope, they bailed when it happened. they haven't come out of hiding yet. give them a couple of hours to recover.
