Jessica’s body was found at about 11:30 a.m., July 6, on the south side of State Road 64 just east of Interstate 75. She was 25. Her car was found parked at home — less than one mile away.

Just three days earlier, Jessica was leaving her house to spend a few days with a friend.

Investigators with both the Florida Highway Patrol and the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office are trying to unravel the mystery behind Jessica’s death. With an autopsy completed, the two agencies are working together to piece together a timeline regarding Jessica’s whereabouts the days prior to her death.

At first, investigators speculated Jessica’s death was due to a pedestrian accident, but until the FHP and sheriff’s office can piece a timeline together, no cause can be determined.

“We don’t have a lot of information on Jessica’s whereabouts on July 5,” said Sgt. Rick Wells, of the FHP. “We’re really trying to pinpoint where she was the evening of July 5.”

July 5, 2004 was a Monday. It would have been the day after all the fireworks shows in each area. This article doesn't mention anything out of the ordinary that would have happened near where the victim was found.

In 2004, the SR 64 exit would have been overgrown and isolated. Since it was a mile or so from her home, I suspect if there was foul play, it would involve a local. Someone familiar with the area vs a trucker passing thru type person. In the last 10 years, that area has grown exponentially.
