An American family-of-four are missing in the Amazon after the ferry they were traveling on was robbed by pirates.
Adam Harris Heart, 39, with Emily Faith, 37, and their daughters Colette, seven, and Sierra, three, were last seen on Sunday when several heavily armed men hijacked their boat.

A police spokesperson told (FocusOn News): 'There are some reports the family jumped into the river after being held hostage for hours. We have been told Emily was raped by the pirates, but this still has to be substantiated.

Officers say the family's van has been found abandoned in the forest, but there is no sign of the couple or their children.

The Hearts once lived in California, but left the state back in 2012 to start a round-the-world voyage that was supposed to last 12 months. However, five months into the venture they decided to turn the trip into a lifestyle and have been on the road ever since.

According to reports, they were robbed by pirates, around 7pm last Sunday, while travelling on a ferry to Breves, on the Ilha de Marajo in Para, an island in an estuary in the Amazon, north Brazil.

The assailants are reported to have hijacked the ferry and forced it to an area known as Porto dos Dias. Those on board had everything stolen and were left stranded on the ship.

When police arrived they discovered that the American family had disappeared. The family are said to have a house in Florianopolis, south Brazil and to have a property in the United States.

A couple from America, Adam Harris Heart, 39, and Emily Faith Heart, 37, and their two children disappeared last Sunday (29) from the ferry, Swallow and the pusher Taigó and were assaulted by pirates in the Rio Furo Grande, near Breves, Ilha do Marajó.

They were in a van and departed from a port on Avenida Bernardo Sayão bound for Macapá. The couple's van has already been seized by the police in the capital of the state.

According to the victims' accounts, several heavily armed men landed on the raft's pusher and kept the crew hostage for hours. Some of the cargo was stolen and Emily was reportedly raped by the robbers. The couple left the vehicle in a forest area. They have not been seen since.

At dawn last Monday (30), some of the cargo was found in the woods, but none of the pirates have yet been identified.


In a statement, the Secretary of State for Public Security and Social Defense (Segup) reported that he is continuing with the investigation of the disappearance, with the assistance of the Civil Police, Military Police, Public Security Air Group (Graesp) and Fire Brigade.

In addition, investigations were also being made by the Secretariat of Intelligence and Criminal Analysis of Segup on social networks and contact with relatives in Florianópolis (where the couple are residents) and in the US. Another ongoing investigation is about the robbery of the pusher Taigó I and the ferry, Swallow.

From early morning, a Graesp helicopter is assisting in the search of the Breves region."

I will forever be amazed at people who go to live a life on the road. Moving from place to place is a big enough deal for me but living out of a van (they had houses, I know) for 5 years with 2 babies gives me anxiety!

Any word on any family? I wonder if they have been back to CA since starting their new life.

Oh dear! Following this. I read it on a main paper. I have many friends that live and love this lifestyle ( as do I) . Not a safe region though they were in. Prayers

Good Lord, this is a nightmare...how awful. It reminds of the woman who was traveling by canoe down the Amazon, and who was attacked and killed.
World has become so dangerous...

So very sad, they look like a very nice family.

Instagram, content based income on live feeds. Stock photos, photo shoots, blogging. Also, many work remotely which means you WiFi in for client calls. Etsy based shops etc..
it may seem like an “ odd” lifestyle with children however I know three different couples that live this lifestyle and do quite well and their children are amazing.
This couple do not have children and travel USA but check out 188sqft on IG and you can get a feel for income and lifestyle. Hope that helps.:)

Thank you. After I posted my question to you, I checked out this missing family's blog. I'm so fascinated with this lifestyle. I think families like this should have reality shows, not the Kardashians.

I am praying for them, but it's just not looking good :(.
