Kat Torres, a Brazilian model and Instagram influencer have been sentenced to eight years in prison in her native country for human trafficking and slavery in the US of a young Brazilian woman. There are most likely other victims too.
Kat Torres was a well-known model, who had partied with celebrities, but began to groom some of her followers in Brazil to come to the US, where they were trafficked. It all began to unravel when two young women were reported missing in 2022. This doesn't seem to be the most "common" case of trafficking, which shows that there are many faces of a trafficker and many ways how women end up being trafficked. The article is long, but well worth reading.
