BRASILIA, May 4 (Reuters) - Brazilian police said on Sunday that they had thwarted a bomb attack planned for Lady Gaga's historic concert that drew over 2 million people to Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday.
The Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro state, working in coordination with the Justice Ministry, said the plot was orchestrated by a group promoting hate speech and the radicalization of teenagers, including self-harm and violent content as a form of social belonging.

''Two people arrested on suspicion of planning an attack at a Lady Gaga concert in Rio de Janeiro were targeting LGBTQ+ people, police said on Sunday.

According to the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro, the pair had attempted to “recruit” people, including teenagers, to carry out coordinated attacks at Saturday’s concert, using improvised explosives and Molotov cocktails. The goal of the planned attack, according to police, was “gaining notoriety on social media.”

Meanwhile, in a separate development following police searches at nine addresses across Brazil, a third person who allegedly planned to carry out a “satanist ritual by killing a child or a baby” during the concert was charged with terrorism offenses, according to Brazilian police.''

Lady Gaga's team tells ET they only learned about an alleged bomb-threat against her Brazil concert after the record-breaking show. Brazilian Civil Police say two people were arrested in connection to an alleged bomb attack plot. Officers say they were planning to use Molotov cocktails during the show. Gaga's reps say, 'Her team worked closely with law enforcement throughout the planning and execution of the concert and all parties were confident in the safety measures in place.' However, the reps add, 'We learned about this alleged threat via media reports this morning.'
