This disappearance and death stands out for me because I recall (will post when I find details) that there was another student or young person who was hiking in the same area a couple of years ago, who was also missing and then found deceased. I'm curious about locals who might be targeting young solo tourists in the area.

"In a Facebook post, SANParks advised that visitors only do activities “in groups.. four or more,” inform others when heading off, and save the emergency numbers for Table Mountain National Park.

Authorities insisted in another post that comments about growing concerns over crime were “speculative and may cause unnecessary alarm” which can undermine their search efforts.

They added that since 2023, crime statistics “have drastically decreased from 16 (October 2023) and 32 (November 2023), to 6 (July 2024) and 3 (August 2024).”

I’ve been to Cape Town on several occasions and whilst it’s a beautiful place it’s one in which I’d never travel anywhere alone.

Whilst this could be a tragic accident I lean more towards foul play - many parts of Cape Town are extremely poor, a lone female is an easy target to rob/assault.

Her death is reported around the world, so I suspect more people are questioning whether this was another murder like with Nick Frischke.

She started the hike around noon. The wind increased to 39 km/h (24 mph) between 3 and 6 PM. I read somewhere ... need to verify ... that the hike was roughly 3 hours. I'm skeptical that she was blown off the trail - but anything is possible.

All we know at this time is that her tracking app stopped updating, and she was unreachable by phone/text. I'm curious whether she had a device that tracked steps, heart rate, location.

I hiked this mountain in 2017- well, the main trail up the front of it. It was a nice day, weekend and very crowded but I had read about crimes so I went with a guide and some other people. There were so many hikers that I probably would have been fine alone. This main trail has a restaurant at the top and a cable car down- lots of tourists. There are, however, more trails -a big park full of them and more remote camping areas and there were stories of bikes and things being strong arm stolen so.... thought the German tourist, Friscke, was on a longer more remote hike. It is creepy to be in a beautiful place with gorgeous views and not to feel safe.

Rain and wind can drastically change hiking conditions at Table Mountain. The wind speed increased after 3 P.M.

She left at noon. What trail was she taking, how many hours?

There are some reports that it is a popular trail with a lot of people, so how did she fall off a mountain and no one noticed?

Table Mountain can be really dangerous. It's prone to sudden atmospheric changes that can cause it to be draped in a thick fog that looks like a tablecloth from afar but if you're on it, it can be so dense you can't see two feet in front of you.

I don't know if anything like that happened here, but you can see how someone could fall off a mountain unseen if it did.

The autopsy information is taking a long time. I suppose there are two angles of investigation. First, there has been a high rate of criminal activity at Table Mountain for years. Although the rate is allegedly lower this year, it is not ruled out. Secondly, the wind came up between 3 PM and 6 PM. Was that accompanied with the Table Cloth cloud effect?

We need more information. If the wind was accompanied with cloud cover at the upper end of the hike, it's more likely that she fell.

I assume that questions are related to DNA swabs, and injuries. Could all injuries have occurred during a fall? Are there any abrasions inconsistent with fall? Broken ribs? One, or more? Any pre-mortem injuries?
