I thought it might be best to start a new thread for info and updates on Carl Pistorius.
Interesting that on August 3 police were rather emphatically denying that drunk driving was being investigated:

Yet today - August 7 - it is stated that alcohol involvement has not been ruled out:

Carl's blood alcohol level at the time he was brought into the hospital emergency room is assuredly known. Due to potential interaction between alcohol and so many medications, his blood alcohol level would have been determined immediately. And yes, at least in the U.S., the hospital must provide this info to police who are investigating an accident. (Police investigation overrides HIPAA laws)
I was quite surprised to read, according to a family statement, that Carl is ventilator dependent. This is certainly not a good sign.
