A 25-year-old Thousand Oaks man, Hector Prado, was arrested after allegedly kidnapping a 20-year-old woman and attempting to sexually assault her in a remote area of Ventura County on September 7. The victim flagged down a Ventura County sheriff’s sergeant near Rancho Road and Thousand Oaks Boulevard after escaping following a brief but violent struggle with Prado. Detectives later identified Prado and served a search warrant at his home on Tennyson Street, where he was taken into custody on suspicion of kidnapping, false imprisonment by violence, assault with intent to commit rape, and sexual penetration with force. Authorities warned that there may be additional victims or witnesses and asked anyone with information to contact Detective Salas at 805-371-8397 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 to report anonymously.
