Andrea was living with John Annibel when she disappeared. Annibel reported her missing on 18 March 1980. Because he was already suspect in the cases of Janet Lee Bowman, Karen Frances Fisher, and Sherry Lynn Smith, Annibel became suspect in this one also.

In 1999, Annibel was convicted of first degree murder in the case of Debbie Sloan.

Andrea's skull was found on 9 August 2002.

I asked this also on the Annibel thread before I found this one. What ever came of the later testing of the blood found in Annibel’s apartment when Andrea disappeared?

Annibel lived with DeLaRoute in Fortuna when he was 22 and she was 20. He reported her missing March 18, 1980. Her body was never found.
Blood evidence from the 18-year-old case taken from the couple's apartment will now be tested for a possible DNA match, a procedure that was not available in 1980.

John Annibel, Andrea's boyfriend and likely killer, was abusive to her during their relationship. it should also be noted that Andrea is Indigenous, specifically Tolowa. Annibel's sole conviction so far has been for the murder of Debbie Sloan in 1998; Debbie was white, but she lived on tribal land and had a relationship with an Indigenous man. Debbie's daughter Rachel, an enrolled member of the Cahto Tribe, was murdered in 2012
