Brittany was last seen in Fort Bragg, California. On November 13, 2020, she was reported missing by her family, as she had not been in contact with them for about six months and her county benefits had been canceled because she hadn't used them in a long time. She had been living in the Fort Bragg area for about a year by the time of her disappearance, but had no physical address or phone number. Her dog Janie disappeared with her.

First thing: when and where did she use her EBT card (county benefits).

I work at a welfare agency in a CA county, but it's quite decentralized; each county is given autonomy to implement administration of public benefits.

i believe that EBT cards become inactive after some 180 days of no use. They can be used across CA counties and even in different states.

Food stamp eligbility must be established every six months, so the case would have closed within six months, but even if the case is closed, the benefits remain there until they get expunged (but they can be re-activated).

There's a toll free number to reset the PIN, if she had lost it. Getting a new EBT card is trickier; it's possible to reissue an EBT card from another county, but it's quite difficult and may not always work.

Sorry for rambling off a bit, the priority is to find out where and when her EBT card was last used.

Brittany was last seen in Fort Bragg, California. Brittany Jane Adkins is from Petaluma, CA and went to FORT BRAGG ,CA with her now Ex boyfriend Dan Lynch and of course her dog Janie. She has actually been MISSING since 12/2019. Her Dad, Jesse Adkins shouldered the search for her by himself distributing flyers ( which we have time stamped and dated from then ) by himself - with no help from Police. As a friend of her Dad's, as well as someone who cares very much for Brittany I was shocked to learn she had been MISSING at all? And I found this out thru a friend this past March 2021?! Why had this not had any attention brought to it? So, I contacted Jesse and offered to help. And I proceeded to hit Social media by storm. Brittany had her Food Stamp case closed as she had not been by to pick up her mail where it was being sent. Also, she has a Grandfather who was helping her with money - also has not seen or heard from her. No this is NOT something normal for Brittany to do to her friends and family - disappear without a word. If she didn't want to talk to someone she wouldn't, but she would never do this to all the people that love and care about her. She had lost her Mom a few months prior to her disappearance as well. While searching online for anything new or recent on Brittany I came across a story in a Mendocino County News section about another MISSING woman who disappeared 4 months after Brittany had technically gone MISSING, the MISSING woman from FORT BRAGG, CA was Barbara Crane-Shealor. And the article was about her friend Brandy kicking up some dust all over the place because NOTHING WAS BEING DONE TO FIND BARBARA CRANE-SHEALOR?! And I noted in the article it mentioned 2 other MISSING PERSONS CASES in Fort Bragg and BRITTANY ADKINS was not 1 of them?! Why?!
I contacted Police Depts from Petaluma to Fort Bragg to inquire and got only 1 response, from Petaluma stating yes they had prior incidents with Brittany Adkins , it was not their case but they would look into seeing what they could do to help. (Thank you for that much PPD! )
Also at this time I contacted the Mendocino County News and informed them there was in fact 1 more MISSING PERSON in Fort Bragg, Brittany Adkins.
A short time after Brandy caused a sh*t storm over lack of assistance in the case of her MISSING friend Barbie ( Barbara Crane -Shealor ) the Fort Bragg PD finally decided to release to the public the info. on MISSING PERSON BARBARA CRANE-SHEALOR.
And within a short time of contacting the Mendocino News people my info on BRITTANY ADKINS was added as letter to the Editor letting them know another young woman was MISSING in Fort Bragg, CA. Also within this time range the Fort Bragg PD once again revealed to the public the info on another MISSING WOMAN , BRITTANY JANE ADKINS!
Almost 2 years after the fact on both these MISSING women, and in Brittanys case giving wrong info. But it was a start.
For instance, Forrest ( which is a nick name ) is supposedly some guy who happened to pick her up and give her a ride from the Tenderloin in S.F. Date unknown, but that he apparently owns an Audio/Stereo installation shop in Willits.
And another fact is that she is no longer with her dog Janie. However Janie has been seen recently by Dan Lynch, her last known boyfriend, and one of his friends who actually posted a comment with a photo of Janie 5 and a half months after Brittany was last heard from. Dan just came forward and informed her Dad, Jesse that he'd seen Janie approx a month ago?
Both Jesse & Brittany have had dealings with Police, and it seems this lack of interest in her disappearance might have something to do with that but who knows? We do understand that Authorities in Fort Bragg, Ukiah, Willits, and surrounding towns seem to be unhelpful to anyone known to be a Homeless Drug user, Alcoholic, and other undesirables. Which shows in their late start announcing Brittanys disappearance as well as Barbara Crane - Shealors . Jesse Adkins was going it alone up and down the coast from Petaluma to Fort Bragg with his flyers alone until I offered to help & hit Social media.
I also contacted the State Attorney General MISSING PERSONS in regards to Brittany Adkins, and was thrilled they responded within 48 hrs, ( I'm eternally grateful to them for their help! ).
There are alot of people who have been so helpful, especially in the communities where the Authorities wouldn't help, their citizens did and still do.
But we are at a stalemate, nothing being done it seems, and we are still putting Brittanys face OUTTHERE. She has many different looks, as most don't realize Brittany is actually a Blond, she dyes her hair often and shaves it into mohawks, bald, you name it. I have photos of most all the different looks and post them in the event she changes looks and someone will know to recognize her no matter what that look is.
Brittany is 28, she is Homeless, yes - she had Addiction problems, yes - she is known to Police, yes - but that does not make her any less important than any other MISSING PERSON? She does have friends and Family that Love her and care about her, and we will continue searching for answers to what's happened to her. It was thought at one time maybe she was in a Rehab, but after all this time that's highly doubtful. We asked the Fort Bragg PD to contact the County/State about her Food stamps case, as we were informed that if she did not have for instance her Dad, Jesse as a contact person on her case he could not find out anything about any current case or when and where she last used her Food stamp card. But the Police could. We haven't heard back since sending them this info. And asking them to do this. So we do not know? We asked them to look into these sightings of her dog Janie by her last known boyfriend Dan Lynch and his friend as well - but haven't heard a thing on that either.
We need the public's help as we aren't getting any elsewhere. No matter how insignificant anyone thinks it may be? It's extremely important to her friends and family, especially her Dad, who's growing concern is getting more and more each day. People in Homeless encampments don't often like to speak to Authorities, and that's ok. They can find me, her Dad, Jesse and many others on Facebook and can message us there. How we get the info to find out what's happened to BRITTANY JANE ADKINS is all that matters at this point. If anyone feels more comfortable contacting one of us, please do.

In part yes. In Brittany's case as well as Barbara Crane-Shealors both MISSING from Fort Bragg, Ca, the Authorities consider Homeless, Addicted, Alcoholics, and those with a Record "invisible, not worth their time, and won't waste their time" in helping these people.
We have 2 women in this area tho who are Advocates to these people, they go into these encampments alone in between caring for their families, and full time jobs to offer whatever help they can. They are truly amazing - Nichealle and her best friend Beezy. They have been assisting us with our continued search for BRITTANY ADKINS and have made her a priority after learning of the lack of assistance with the authorities. We also have another woman Stacey in Illinois, an advocate for the MISSING, MURDERED, and the Lost - who herself lost her 2 and a half month old Grandson Theo after his Dad killed him for no apparent reason. Women of great heart, providing a voice, help, and justice for those who have no standing with Authorities. Or are too young or no longer here to speak for them.
People often don't realize or take the time to notice - or much less care that some or many of the Homeless and addicted happen to be our Soldiers Men and Women, who once the Limelight cast upon them while we waved our proud yellow flags faded away, they lost their support, counseling and psychiatric services too. And they faced trauma we know nothing about, and now have no help for that. And people tend to try and ease their suffering by numbing themselves however they can. Thus many of our Homeless Addicts people now pretend are invisible. All people are human just like everyone else, me, you everyone. And should be treated as such no matter what. People seem to have forgotten how to care.
And it shouldn't matter who you are. It didn't matter to our Soldiers who we were when they were fighting for our country, or risking their lives in another one? We were proud of them - and yet we dishonor them now they are home and need us most. Homeless, Addicted and No one to help, no one to care. Their services being taken away from them when the cameras are no longer spotlighting them? Until people learn to care for all human life, it will never change. The fact that Authorities disregard anyone this way is inexcusable! Contacting your OFFICE OF the ATTORNEY GENERAL and telling them of these situations and any other State Official does help. The more people bring it to their attention, the more notice will be taken. As the Fentynol drug terrorizes and grows, killing people by the hundreds in 1 community alone each month and is affecting everyone everywhere, we will lose more. They are purposely getting people addicted so they can then send them out into Illegal Sex Trafficking Rings across the country. Homeless are easy targets, and are many of those who are among the MISSING, and the Authorities won't help. The addicts are not worth their time. And in our area we only have these two women, OUTTHERE everyday doing what Authorites will not. Attention to what's going on OUTTHERE needs to be brought to our State Officials, people need to start caring about other people irregardless of their personal addictions and inner battles. Until this happens, our problems will only get worse. Our MISSING, our Addicted, the victims of Murder, Overdoses, and our Homeless populations will only grow in numbers. People don't ask or beg for their lives to be one of suffering and poverty, you don't HAVE to GIVE THEM MONEY to HELP THEM, there are other ways, but you have to have a HEART AND CARE first. That doesn't cost a dime. Writing your STATE OFFICALS probably costs you as much as a stamp, but nothing if you EMAIL THEM.
CARING is the FIRST THING, these people are Human, not INVISIBLE.

people don't just disappear. she is somewhere. where is she?

is the bf not cooperating? does anyone know where he saw Janie and who Janie is with now? this is a confusing case. i pray for the best but like twinkle said, the cops don't care unless the girl missing is a full on Gabbie Petito. Really, really disheartening.

I don't even think they've talked to the boyfriend? We don't know anything. We've had no contact about this case in a long time. No response. Nothing.
And the boyfriend states. Janie is right there in Fort Bragg.

But I am glad Gabby got the media attention, they should ALL get that kind of respect - ALL LIVES MATTER. Sorry that's just how I see it. People shouldn't get profiled by color, sex, police records, drug history, income level, or any other thing.
They don't allow people to take revenge on others like vigalantes? We can't decide or don't get the right to exact revenge on another person's life in that way. We don't get the right to choose even when we're the victims and Families. Then the decision to make 1 life more important than another shouldn't be permitted either. I was born and raised in Petaluma, CA and the hometown of Polly Klaas, where Brittany is also from. Even though the case was filed thru Fort Bragg - I'd think Petaluma would come together a little more to help find one of their own? Is one life not as important as any other? Brittany is loved and missed by her Family. And we have No answers. And no support - except for the communities everywhere, the people are amazing! And I hope to reach as many as I can to keep Brittany's face out there.

I'm not sure about the cards expiring because I thought mine was shut off for months only to learn it was deactivated and I was supposed to receive a new one and didn't..when I got my food money four or five months later I had over three thousand dollars on there.

But we do not know is the problem. Only the Officer in charge of the case can find out any information about her EBT Card/ Case County info etc. And we have no idea if he's checked or not. Getting a response from him is hard enough.
