MERCED, Calif. (KMJ/FOX26) — The Merced Police Department is turning to the community for help in locating a 61-year-old man now considered missing.

According to Merced Police, Cal Lee was last seen on Thursday August 4th, leaving the La Sierra Care Facility at 2424 M Street.

Lee was a volunteer patient at the facility and staff said that Lee left to go to the store around 9:20 p.m., but never came back.

Article above says he was a "volunteer patient"? I'm not sure what that means. It's just that anytime I've dealt with relatives admitted to a care facility (rehab after broken hip, etc.) there were plenty of physician orders needing to be signed to be admitted.

Info on the facility he went missing from (La Sierra Care):

This includes promoting a sense of well-being, achieving a satisfying level of independence, and improving the quality of life for each individual. I hope he is safe, especially if he was dealing with some kind of physical disability at the time he went missing. I really hope he didn't collapse somewhere and hasn't been found.
