This case plagues me both awake and asleep. (All info is from NAMUS)

ME/C Case Number: 2023-01058

Race/ Ethnicity: White / Caucasian, Hispanic / Latino, Asian

Estimated Age Range: 25 - 50

Estimated Year of Death: 2022-2023

Height: 4' 8"-5' 6"(56-66 inches) Estimated

Body found: January 26, 2023

State of body: Not recognizable - Decomposing/putrefaction. The decedent was found in a state of advanced decomposition in Malibu Creek State Park

This earring is the only available evidence for the Doe. Personal opinion, this isn't a manufactured piece of jewelry. This looks more homemade/ local. Another option is this is an older piece of jewelry from their mother/ grandmother.

Calabasas is an ultra-rich neighborhood and I'm surprised that this is still an unidentified body. Someone has to recognize this earring.

Because of the awful fires in this area in 2018, I’d assume that this poor girl was place/killed here after then. I hope they find out who she is :(

I hiked in Malibu Creek State Park once. It’s pretty unconnected from the Calabasas neighborhood, just geographically close. It’s in the Santa Monica Mountains in between Malibu and Calabasas, with the trail just surrounded by nature the whole way (no views). All I remember from it is seeing the remnants of the set of the TV Show MASH and I think we came across an abandoned house.

There was also a series of random shootings of campers in Malibu Creek State Park, which no one seemed to hear about until one resulted in the murder of a father who was camping with his young daughters about 5 years ago. It seems they convicted a man for the murder at least.

All that to say, there is no reason to think this woman had any connection to Calabasas. It wouldn’t surprise me if Malibu Creek State Park is used as a dumping ground for bodies for anyone killed in the greater LA area. Curious if this is indeed the first body found there.
