Man detained after wife, wife's son are stabbed to death



LOS ANGELES (AP) - A man was arrested today in connection with the fatal stabbing of his wife and her son in a Montecito Heights home.
Police say that officers responding to a nine-one-one call found three people at the home with stab wounds.

Emilio Cruz Heredia stabbed his girlfriend, her son that come to her defense and the dog that tried to protect them. And there were 2 other babies in the house.

...A special circumstance allegation of multiple murder was also filed, which could have made Heredia eligible for the death penalty if convicted...

LOS ANGELES – A 42-year-old man who pleaded guilty last month to killing his common-law wife and teenage stepson was sentenced today by a Los Angeles Superior Court judge.

Judge Sam Ohta sentenced Emilio Cruz Heredia of Los Angeles to 40 years to life in state prison for the 2006 slayings of Carol Bloomfield and her 17-year-old son, Jonathan Bloomfield.
