Thank God he was still wearing his body armor.

I read he was going to take it off once he got into his vehicle.

Its absolutely so heart shattering at how many of our police officers have been targeted with so many being killed this year alone. Thank goodness this lawless sniper wasn't sucessful in their quest to murder this officer.

Its seems I read of another police officer being shot in the line of duty every few days now. (

It's truly shamefully at all the hate, and violence being done against our LE officers all across our nation.

The lawless are attacking the law abiders, including the very ones who put their lives on the line every single day in order to protect their communities.

It shows how far down our country has fallen.

What's even more shameful, IMO, is how little attention is given here when it happens to our police officers. That's very revealing itself. Gah!

Let's just say this incident is causing some differences of opinions here in Lancaster. The rumor mill is in full swing on this one and the news reports of them finding a pellet gun in the apartments aren't helping at all.

I'm just glad the deputy is going to be ok and I didn't have to get a phone call from a friend saying it was them

Let's just say his co-workers are not happy right now. A friend of mine interviewed him after it all happened and knew the story was bunk but didn't make his opinion known.

Omg. I hope he gets what he deserves. Its reprehensible to know he made all of this up.

Tragically there is no need to embellish anything. The truth is our police officers are being targeted. This horrible so called police officer should be immediately fired,and the book thrown at him.

Another state trooper was killed in the line of duty just recently when serving a warrant. Iirc the Trooper was from Indiana.

I detest this officer who made up crap taking away attention from the ones who have been murdered or severely injured in the line of duty.

What a rotten betrayal to all of the countless devoted police officers. Ugh!

I've had a feeling in my gut since the day of the "shooting" that this might be a hoax. I'm not sure why. Maybe it was because there were so few actual updates after the incident. Maybe it was his short 3 months on the job.......I don't know......but I was sad to read that my instincts were correct. What a nut job. Why in the world would someone do this? Attention I imagine. I hope they through the book at him!

Before this I hadn't even thought about how high rise apartments could be a perfect place for a sniper to shoot officers when the police station is across the street.

That part of the story made me worry even more for all of our officers nationwide. Now because of his bald face lies he may have made police officers a real target if the station is surrounded by high rises. Ugh! What a jerk!

And now to know he made it all up leaves me livid. I imagine his fellow officers are also highly upset that he could do this, and for what? His own 15 minutes of fame.

I'm sure he will be immediately fired. He also needs to be arrested, and charged with every count they can charge him with. It's so reprehensible.

I agree. And now pretty much everyone in So Cal knows about the high rise overlooking the Sheriff's parking lot. He has increased the risk to our other officers. They need to cover that parking area ASAP!

The station isnt surrounded by high rises, it's one set of apartments at the North end of the parking lot by the helipad. Never thought about them being an issue but now with hindsight, it makes no sense why they would them right there.

Highly upset is an understatement. Havent had a chance to talk to my friends yet but from their FB posts, I'm going to hear a lot of words not suitable for the public.

As far as why he did it, there's plenty of rumors floating around and I'm sure I'll end up hearing the exact reason sooner or later
