I was able to find a post by Cold Case Mendocino which shared that Derick was found deceased.
They also stated they would not be sharing where he was found or the circumstances around his death out of respect for his family.
Under this specific post is countless comments.

Although, I don’t believe it is sufficient in changing his thread to Located Deceased.

I would like to know why the Santa Rosa Police Department initially put the "suicidal" label onto this case when his family and friends seemed fairly adamant to the contrary.
