Dixie's yearbook photo, taken about three years before her disappearance:

Records confirm Dixie's maiden name was Schaefer and newspaper records from her disappearance confirm she attended Granada Hills HS.

I still feel like Granada Hills Jane Doe is Dixie, though I don't see any way to prove it.

As her father says in The Charley Project, she assumes that someone followed her since she got off her car and kidnapping ... in the struggle her glasses fell ... This case does not even have suspicious validated by authority ...
Anyway
Rest in peace dixie

This case has always been an interesting one to me- that electric typewriter typing away must have been so creepy

I am friend of family. As happens often on ancestry, someone adds someone and then others continue the mistake. It is completely mixed up with real family members but all is not correct.
Just come back and found this. I think you misunderstood my original post. The records for the Dixie Schaefer in question are not attached to family records but identify an individual with that name in official records whose identity cannot be tied up with other records such as births. So this is not a case of family records being mixed up or the usual problem with Ancestry family trees.

Well thanks to Pink Panther's earlier posts, I took another hard look at Dixie's case, and I found an incredible coincidence. Dixie was born in India, January 1st 1948, her parents being missionaries to that continent; Cecelia Shepard [Zodiac victim of the Berryessa attack] was born in India 1st day of January, 1947, her parents also missionaries. And Schaefer = well, it's a pen, of course, but it's German for Shepherd.
Dixie disappeared August 25 1968,
Zodiac started killing in the Bay Area December 23 1968,
Blue Rock Springs, July 4 '69,
Berryessa was 27 September 1969
And last, Presidio Heights, October 11 1969

I'm going to go away now and stick my head in a bucket of cold water, before emailing my friendly, downtown statistician...
WHOA. Looking into that. Seeing that Dixie was for a time a student at Westmont College in Santa Barbara. Zodiac is suspected by many of having committed the 1963 murders of Robert Domingos and Linda Edwards in Santa Barbara County. And Dixie had recently been to a wedding in Santa Barbara (wedding was at Westmont College). She's wearing wedding rings herself, clearly. Zodiac targeted couples, people who were members of couples...

Has the Castaic Doe been mentioned yet as a possibility for Dixie? Castaic 20 mins from Granada Hills.
