Details of Disappearance

Rohrenbacher was last seen on March 18, 1994 in Los Angeles County, California. He went on a hike in the San Gabriel mountains and never returned. He was not reported missing for a week.

His car was discovered abandoned off Highway 39 between Pigeon Ridge and Valley of the Moon, near San Gabriel Canyon Road, shortly afterwards. There were no footprints around the vehicle, but two storms that occurred prior to the car's discovery would have washed away any tracks that had been there.

Rohrenbacher left behind his two dogs, whom he was very attached to. He also left meat defrosting in his kitchen sink. An extensive search of the San Gabriel mountains turned up no sign of him and his case remains unsolved.

Circumstances of Disappearance

Donald Rohrenbacher was last seen on March 18, 1994 in Los Angeles, CA. He drove up Highway 39 to Valley of the Moon, parked his car and went for a hike into San Gabriel Canyon about 15 miles north of Azusa. His vehicle was located on Highway 39, San Gabriel Canyon. A week passed before he was reported missing, and no one knew where he had gone until his car was found. Two storms earlier that week had washed away his tracks. Teams came from around Southern California and did several searches, but never found Rohrenbacher. He was officially pronounced dead, three years after his disappearance.

This case reminds me of others that are similar... they have a change of personality or of thought or of religion and they feel that they are looking for their destiny or that a god or something similar gives them the order to walk and look for themselves... but the defrosting meat and the dogs add more mystery to this case... maybe he really was going to come back but it could also be that he did it this way to mislead us so that we believe that he was going to come back and it really wouldn't be like that... probably he succumbed to the weather or fell into some nearby body of water or forest... and the animals would do the rest...
whatever the case
rest in peace
