ROLLING HILLS ESTATES, CA — The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department sought the public's help Thursday in finding a 21-year-old missing person who may have been kidnapped and was last seen in Rolling Hills Estates.

Evan Michael Cockerham was last seen on Dec. 6 on the 700 block of Silver Spur Road, LASD said. A ***** created by Cockerham's brother Tristen Nelson said he made his last phone call home from the Malaga Cove Library to say a man looking for a dog carjacked and kidnapped him.

"Evan escaped when he had the chance and went to the nearest place (the library) to make the call," the **** post said. "He has not been seen or heard of since. We incline that while he was on the way to the library, the man was following him."

I don't know about this -- read the article and see what you think. It's a far out story and it brings up a lot of questions, such as, did he call 911 from the library? The LA Sheriff missing announcement doesn't mention a vehicle or a library. In any case, he has been missing for 18 days and he needs to be found.

So he's kidnapped and the brother's first response is to start asking for money? Hmm.

Curious indeed. Especially him being able to get into the library to call. Since most places no longer have payphones I assume he asked to use the library phone.

This story is confusing to me. I am local.

The Malaga Cove Library is not in Rolling Hills Estates. It's in Palos Verdes Estates. The article states he made his "last phone call" from the Malaga Cove Library. But that he was last seen around 700 Silver Spur Road in Rolling Hills Estates which is in fact the address of the Peninsula Library, presumably after his "escape" (though his brother in Omaha states in the G F M (linked in first article) that he vanished from the Malaga Cove Library).

First, Malaga Cove in a quiet area, and the library does not have parking other than a few spaces in the back.
IF he was kidnapped there, why would a perp drive up to the other library area which is in a busier shopping area, rather than getting out of the Palos Verdes Peninsula area immediately towards Pacific Coast Hwy which is so close by. Also one needs to know the area of hills and winding streets up to the main shopping area. Maybe he did if he's local, I don't know.

Or are they mixing up the two libraries? Peninsula Library has parking underneath as well as on the roof. One could get accosted.

There are no updates in any local news reports I've seen, though there are some rumors in comments.

In any case I hope he is found, or has been found, and that he's ok.

He contacted his family from San Francisco and he is now home safe. The article at the link includes a message from his mother. The story is still strange, but at least he is safe.
