'Cherokee brand denim jeans', Wiki gives 1973 as 1st
beginning start year for that brand, grew hugely over
the following decades. The brand label would have
changed changed a bit over the years, too bad they
don't bother to picture it.

'Located by a geologist at the summit of Grimes Canyon
Road in Fillmore, California'.
But summit of Grimes Canyon Road appears to be a
road cutting, however just south of that there's an area
you could pull over at;
and about at that area there used to be a dirt road
leading west off of Grimes Canyon Road in 1978 and
into 1980's;
Plenty of large bushes to screen or to deposit a body
behind, off both sides of that area of Grimes Canyon Rd.

I haven’t found very much info on Linda. Like almost none.

What was her home life like? Did she work? Was she reported missing? How did she end up in a canyon, dead, in California. So many questions!
All I could find (and confirm) was that she was from the East Coast of the US and most of her family still lived there at the time of her death. I don't know what brought her to SoCal but she was apparently living there for a bit.

Skeletal remains were sent to an Othram lab, where the company said its scientists developed a “comprehensive DNA profile.”

This profile was used to create investigative leads that were given to investigators, Othram said. This follow-up led investigators to the woman’s potential family members.

The remains were identified as Linda Orndorff, a Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office spokesperson confirmed in a Feb. 29 email to McClatchy News.

Orndorff, who would have been 52 at the time of her death, last lived in Long Beach, according to the company
