Geetabenn Patel, 58, was last seen around 2:15 p.m. on Sept. 2 near Santa Margarita Lane and Del Sol Circle in La Palma, according to CHP.

A Silver Alert was issued by CHP on Sept. 5 that listed Patel, who is diagnosed with schizophrenia, as standing 5 feet, 2 inches tall and weighing 120 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing a dark blue shirt with pink and purple pajama bottoms.

Geetaben Patel as seen in a family photo.
Patel’s son told KTLA that he and his family are worried because she is without her medication, and due to the high temperatures that recently scorched the area, there is a higher chance she could have fallen ill.

She left without her wallet, phone or anything that would aid in tracking her, he added.

On the day of her disappearance, Sagar Patel left home to get food for his family while his father watched over her.

A minute after he left, his mother managed to walk out of their home and hasn't been seen since.

Sagar Patel says his mother left home without money, a phone or food and water.

Her son thinks she hadn’t been taking her medication, as the night before and the day of her disappearance she was acting scared and locking herself in the bathroom. So he thinks she may be hiding in a small place somewhere.

But, normally, she has a job where she is a hard worker and is loved by everyone there.

Screenshots taken from this FoxLA video (LINK), I assume from the family’s own Ring camera. She moves really fast. No shoes on! Very long ponytail. Has a more youthful appearance here than in the other photos of her, IMO.

There are several cars parked on the street but I can't tell if there's anyone in them.

This article states, "Video shows her walking out of her home in La Palma on Sept. 2 around 2:15p.m. and has not been seen since then."

It's hard for me to imagine that there are no other cameras in that entire neighborhood. Did she get into one of those vehicles? MOO

Ok, it looks like I located the house. It’s on Del Sol Circle. (Google Map Link) In the video it appears she may be heading to the right as she’s leaving her driveway, which makes sense, because if she went left, it’s a short cul-de-sac, so the street ends. She headed towards Santa Margarita Lane. Like @PommyMommy said, there must be other doorbell cams that caught her going by!

Per La Palma Police Department Detective James Roche:
  • She left without her wallet, phone or anything that would aid in tracking her.
They have received no leads or tips from anyone in the 12 days Patel has been missing.
  • Surveillance footage from the area has turned up no sign of her either.
  • An organized search over the weekend in La Palma turned up no new leads.
  • “We’re using every technology we have,” said Roche, “ but so far, she’s vanished without a trace.”

... Patel reportedly left the home a minute after her son — who believes his mother stopped taking her medication in the weeks leading up to her disappearance.

“When she gets in that state of mind, she gets very scared. She’ll usually lock herself up in a corner or a room. The day she went missing and the night before, she was locking herself up in the bathroom, so she might be in a really small corner,” Patel’s son explained to the news outlet.

“She locked herself in the bathroom, really paranoid and scared,” Sagar Patel, 30, the son of the missing woman, described his mother’s behavior Labor Day weekend. “She thought people were trying to kill her, rape her.”

“I don’t know if my mom heard the front door close, my car take off, but she ran after us or at me,” he said. “She left through the front door.”

Patel was last seen on a neighbor’s security camera hovering around a neighbor’s front yard near Santa Margarita Lane.

:(

There has been a heartbreaking update in the case of Geetaben Patel, who went missing from her home in La Palma back in October. After an extensive search lasting more than two months, police discovered her deceased just a block away from where she was last seen.

*****
Geetaben Patel was found on November 15, ending a search that spanned from her La Palma neighborhood to Downtown Los Angeles’ Skid Row. According to La Palma police, the 58-year-old was discovered in a neighbor’s storage shed, where she had somehow ended up before her passing.

*****
Sagar believes his mother’s disappearance was linked to a mental health crisis. She had been diagnosed with schizophrenia and had stopped taking her prescribed medication about a month before she went missing.

Now, he’s using his grief to advocate for mental health awareness, urging families to support their loved ones even when it’s challenging.

*****
“One of the things that I made a promise to myself,” he shared. “I want to find a way to help other families, just so that this doesn’t happen to someone else.”

What a sad update. My heart goes out to the family & to Geetaben while she was experiencing this. Condolences to Geetaben's loved ones.
