Long Beach police on Wednesday announced the arrest of a Long Beach massage therapist on suspicion of murder after the bizarre death of a woman in 2014 who may have undergone a vampire facial.
Sandra Perez Gonzalez, 48, was booked Tuesday in connection with the death of Hamilet Suarez, 36, of Long Beach, police said.
The victim had gone to Arelis Beauty Salon, 2113 Pacific Ave., on Feb. 12, 2014, where she had been booked for a massage.
Homicide detectives learned that Gonzalez, who was only licensed to perform massages, had advertised that she also performs vampire facials a procedure that involves using the patients own blood to inject into the face in order reduce sagging or wrinkled skin and other procedures, such as butt lifts and lip augmentation.
Gonzalez initially was arrested on suspicion of possessing controlled substances used in the medical procedures, for which she was not licensed. However, she was released without being charged.
It is not clear what new findings or evidence led to Tuesdays arrest.
