Skeletal remains recovered near Hart family crash site

The Mendocino County Sheriff's Office said Thursday in a statement that the skeletal remains of what appeared to be a human foot were found in a shoe on the beach about a mile north of the crash site. The shoe -- a 3.5 "big kid" size, or 5.5 women's US size -- was entangled in a girl's pair of jeans, the sheriff's office said.

Remains found belong to Hannah Hart

The skeletal remains found along the California coastline in May of last year have been identified Tuesday as belonging to Hannah Hart, one of the children who was reported missing after her family’s vehicle crashed off the coastal highway.

A year after Devonte Hart and his siblings were killed by their adoptive parents, the teenager has been declared dead, though his body was never recovered.
