Richard Reed, a 17-year-old two-way star and senior at Silverado High School in Victorville, California, was shot and killed Sunday night in his hometown.

A high school football player from California was gunned down over the weekend in his hometown of Victorville.

Richard Reed, a star player at Silverado High School, was found shot in a street near La Mesa and Jade roads Sunday night and was pronounced dead there.

My heart aches. A 17 year-old young man is gone, just gone. SMH. God cries.
Was it a random shooting, or was someone out to end his life?
I'm hoping more than one person saw something or heard something or simply knows something.
La Mesa and Jade roads look to be in a nice residential neighborhood -- so could this slaying be specific for Richard, or was he in the wrong place at the wrong time? It takes my breath away.

This incident is not one that any parent or friend should have to endure. The holidays are coming up, and Richard won't be there.
Other families in other places are also going something similar in their respective losses as well. It just doesn't stop.
Comfort and loving thoughts to his family members, friends and his fellow athletes.
