Roseville police said its detectives have identified the two arrested as Jessica Savangsy, 36 years old and Retuquel Dupree, 27 years old, who were dating and living in the same home at the time of the incident.

RPD shared that Savangsy was the biological mother of both of the girls. At this time, it’s unknown what relationship Dupree had.
Savangsy and Dupree were booked into the South Placer County Jail for charges including murder, conspiracy and felony child abuse.

Roseville police responded at around 7:30 a.m. after receiving a call from an “adult resident” who reported that a 7-year-old girl was unresponsive.

When officers arrived at the home, they found two girls, ages 5 and 7. Both girls were taken to the hospital, where the 7-year-old girl died.

Police said two other children were found sleeping and unharmed.

Dupree alleged in a lawsuit that he was wrongfully fired from his job as a Citrus Heights police officer, Fox 40 reported in March 2023. In the lawsuit against the Citrus Heights Police Department, Dupree said the mother of his two daughters filed a false police report in July 2021 that claimed he pushed her.

The following day, two months after starting his job as a police officer, Dupree told Fox40 that he was placed on administrative leave and became the focus of a department internal affairs investigation before his dismissal. In 2024, Dupree worked as a community safety officer for Sierra College in Rocklin where he had a base salary of $34,330, and his total of pay and benefits that year was $59,644, according to compensation records provided by the state to Transparent California.

A Sierra College spokesperson on Monday night confirmed Dupree worked on campus as a community safety officer from April 10, 2024, through Oct. 7 before he was placed on administrative leave two months ago. The spokesperson told The Sacramento Bee that college officials could not disclose any further details about Dupree’s administrative leave because it is a personnel matter.

Neighbors did not want to go on camera about the situation, but told Denyer that they had concerns about the home and had heard screaming numerous times.

Who was the adult who called 911? Were these two even in the home when the call went out?

Check out the 8/13/25 post at link. This guy just won sole custody of his two little girls, so were they the other two children that were in the home and found unharmed?

Unfortunately Adults can be competitive with children too. Maybe he seen them as a threat to his own children in some way shape or form. I see a lot of comments on his social media of people saying he would never do this and he was sleeping. But a beating to a child cannot go unheard unless he was like severely drugged or drunk. But even then seems unlikely. I wonder if Jessica had full custody as well or if the Father is in their lives. There's a lot of social media posts going around with so many stories. I hope LE can clear it up and these kids get justice.

Yeah I have been trying to find official information from what happened to get him the boot from LE. But so far, only finding posts on Social Media so rumors. I don't think not one bit this man is innocent and my fear is that him knowing how the law works he will be able to get off easier than he should be.

Savangsy & Dupree are giving conflicting information so far.

Savangsy said she woke up Monday morning and found her 7-year-old daughter, Adalynn, unresponsive.
“I woke up around 7 and she was just stiff cold. And I started crying and I just grabbed her. I was just like, I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I’m sorry,” she said.
Roseville police said the younger child was injured but alive.
Savangsy said she never expected the situation to result in her daughter’s death and said her youngest child remains hospitalized with serious injuries.
“I didn’t expect it to lead to my daughter dying. I promise, I didn’t mean for any of this to happen. My youngest is in the hospital super injured,” she said.
Savangsy described what she said was an abusive relationship with Dupree and blamed him for her daughter’s fatal injuries. She alleged Dupree physically abused both children and her.
“He punched her, he punched them both in the chest and had them stand in the corner. And then I had to do it as well, so technically I did, but I didn’t want to, and if I try to stand up and say no, like this is going too far, he would beat me,” Savangsy said.

Dupree denied those allegations and said he was never abusive to Savangsy or the children.
“I never, I never abused, I never abused those kids,” Dupree said.
Dupree said he was not home the day before the incident. He said when he returned, he went to sleep and was later awakened by Savangsy. He said that was when he noticed injuries on the 7-year-old. He added that he believes the abuse came from Savangsy.
“They didn’t even call her ‘my mom,’ they would call her Jessica and then they would, um, tell me… I want Jessica to leave. I want to stay with you,” Dupree said.

I will never hurt kids,” Dupree said. “I would never hurt a kid.”
Both Savangsy and Dupree said they were living together at the time but were separated. Savangsy said she believes both she and Dupree should be held responsible.
“The best way I can bring justice to my daughters is I do the time and Dupree does the time,” she said.
Dupree again denied harming the children and said he would have contacted police if he had seen signs of abuse.
Both Savangsy and Dupree are expected to be arraigned in court on Wednesday.
